Donovan Mitchell All Star Weekend Thread

Congrats To Mitchell But That Was a weak dunk contest. Dunking over Kevin Hart and 2 kids Is not as impressive As it used to be. Congrats to THe Kid but was weak compared to past couple years.

Seems that some people are butthurt that some people arent thrilled about memo's comment about the dunk contest. I find that lol worthy as well.

Most everything on jazzfanz is lol worth when you look closely. We are grown men and women that are obsessed with something that really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things after all.
Memo's tweet has very little context. Maybe he wasn't impressed by Mitchells' dunks or maybe he wasn't impressed by the competition in general. Doesn't matter. He is entitled to his opinion, which has negligible impact upon my own.

Too often people look for insult where none was intended. And if insult was intended, then it matters only if we let it. I have fond memories of Memo playing for the Jazz and his tweet doesn't change them at all.

there was a guy i think in last years contest that jumped over normal sized dudes standing up but used them to push up a little higher as he went over them. Don jumped over small dudes but he cleared them so easily it was still breathtaking

The dunk contest is boring because just about everything's been done before. Let's give some credit to Mitchell for the double backboard and jumping over 3 people and to Nance for the double tap. And let's face it, people want to see stars. Would there be excitement if Lebron and Durant were in the contest?

Question: Was the dunk contest held in a closed arena? Because I didn't hear any fans...not even polite clapping during contestant introductions. I though for sure Nance, even though he was traded would get some applause, but nothing. I hope they never, ever hold this thing in LA again. Give the event to cities where fans are excited.

As for Memo, he's probably salty over being traded.

Donovan is now a household name with NBA fans around the country. They've seen not only his skill but also his charisma.
Mission accomplished!

Again. Fan often means fanatic and fans aren’t always logical or fair.
You are using logic here, which is fine and even preferable but not always typical or how the majority of fans react to things of this nature.
Often time with fans emotion, knee jerk reactions, etc override rational though or logic.

Btw, my two favorite dunks of all time are the VC one that Mitchell did and one iggy did when he threw it off the back of the backboard and left from out of bounds.

(I was tempted to throw in the Dwight Howard Superman free throw line dunk just to piss off cy)

My favorite is Gordon's under the *** dunk from a couple of years ago.

He doesnt have responsibilities. He doesnt work for the Jazz anymore. He last worked for the Suns. The Jazz havent wanted him around for a while, he doesnt have to schmooze up to the new rookie.

Um, Okur, the Jazz's team ambassador.

Okur has agreed to be a team ambassador in an official capacity for the NBA team he played for from 2004-11.

Jazz CEO Greg Miller complimented Okur because, he said in a statement released by the team's PR crew, the center "has always carried himself with class and dignity."

Miller said Okur will work with players, sponsors and fans. The 2007 NBA All-Star will also help with the organization's alumni, community and fan relations efforts; the Jazz's business development; and perhaps even with basketball operations, according to the press release.

"Memo quickly became a fan favorite when he arrived in Utah and has maintained that popularity to this day," Jazz president Randy Rigby said in a statement. "Having spent the majority of his career here, he has always been a Jazzman and has maintained strong ties to the team and community.
