Down On the Farm

Alston has some potential. He needs to keep adding strength.

He was a walk-on at Boise State and was really, really skinny then. He has a body type that doesn't add weight easily. His dad was an NBA player and current GLeague head coach. His game has improved lots since the start of the Stars season. He is a 6'9" wing and the Jazz don't have a lot of those populating the roster.

He's like our version of Jalen McDaniels of the Hornets. Could become a rotational player.

Last night the Jazz sent Zylan Cheatham down to play with the Stars and 14 points 15 boards and a blocked shot. I wonder if he is the new two way guy?

I’ve watched Butler play 2 nights in a row in these G league games just to see how he looks. Anyone that still thinks he should be playing over Forrest right now has lost there mind. He is getting cooked defensively by G league guys and doesn’t look good on offense ether. He has a long way to go to be an NBA player

The Stars got pasted again tonight. Butler looked better but was -18 in the box to the Rockets JVs. His turnovers were down but the guy couldn't guard a chair tonight. He looks fat. Carsen Edwards had 36, Alston had 20 on a zillion shots and Butler had 18. Yoeli Childs had 12 points 11 boards. JJ Avila had 11 boards and Butler lead with 6 assists. The announcers said the Jazz recalled Zylan Cheatham before the game.

Don't know if Cheatham's a keeper (he's already pretty old: 26), but just from watching some of the first game against the Vipers, he seemed to be the only one on the Stars who really stood out athletically. Everyone else (Butler included, of course) looked like they'd be at a disadvantage athletically if things moved up to the NBA level.

EDIT: apparently Cheatham's 10-day expired, so maybe he's just not with the Jazz anymore

I wonder if he might be the second two way?

Stars lose by 5 to Stockton, Edwards with 31, Alston 18, Teague and Jared Wilson-Frame with 17. Alston leading rebounder and Wilson-Frame the leading assist guy. Edwards 5-10 from three.

Stars lose a heartbreaker on the Jazz home floor by two to the OKC JVs with a good crowd. It looked like the Stars had the game won and then Yoeli Childs turns into the goat with several dumb plays. Carsen Edwards had 38, Alston 23 Jared Wilson Frame had 20. Childs had a double double and lead the team in rebounding. Wilson-Frame lead the team in assists. It seems like Hughes, Butler and Dok could have helped the Stars tonight. I'm not sure what Quin or the front office are thinking. After getting waived by the Stars Thurl Bailey's son had 23 points for the Lakeland Magic tonight. .

Stars snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. They were up 4 with 2 minutes to go and lose by two with a tip in at the buzzer against the Rockets GLeague team that pasted the Stars twice with Butler playing. Jared Wilson Frame had a nice outing with 27 points 9 boards and 6 assists and was 5-10 from three, Alston had 22 points but 0-6 from three and Carsen Edwards had 20 points and 4-9 from three but was -19 in the box score. Yoeli Childs had 12 points 12 boards. Alston and Childs threw up multiple bricks in the last two minutes. The announcer took a swipe at Butler saying how much better and harder the Stars played tonight than they did in Texas. Stars had no big tonight. Dok could have helped.

In a weird game the Stars only had eight players with one of them Zaire Wade and lost by a dozen in El Lay to the Lakers GLeaguers. Yoeli Childs had 30 and 12 boards, Jared Wilson Frame and Alston both had 24 points. Carsen Edwards got in foul trouble and basically stunk. Young Mr. Wade held his own tonight and in 22 minutes was +11. The Stars had no big and got crushed on the boards.
