What's new

Early (crazy) +/-

Updated 11/18, last weeks rating in ( )

1. Miles +22.5 (+22.5), no change Miles keeps his astronomical rating from low minutes and his alternate Bell sucking it up

2. Millsap +7.5 (+14.8), Millsap's heavy minutes leveling out his still impressive rating here

3. Williams 0.0 (+14.2), Williams has dropped to dead even from a combination of extremely heavy minutes and much better backup PG play

4. Fez +18.1 (+13.1), limited minutes, needs more obviously

5. Elson +11.5 (+7.6), limited minutes, good size and solid jumper helps at center

6. Price +0.4 (+4.0), solid defensive player in his backup PG and SG roles

7. Kirilenko -0.6 (-4.1), AK has been a mixed bag this year but as expected he is trending up here

8. Bell -13.7 (-10.8), Not good at all, but his last game vs Nets did show glimpses of the old Raja

9. Watson +3.2 (-12.5), limited minutes, but biggest gainer. Still not clear who the better backup is, him or Price

10. Jefferson -21 (-15.3), It is perceived AJ has been playing better as of late but he won't get any help here

11. Hayward -23.6 (-33.8), limited minutes, maybe Hayward's dunk will give him some freakin confidence

God, you are just using On-Off court. Use the simple rating, combines Production and On-Off. On-Off by itself is absolutely meaningless.

Hardly meaningless, and accurate more times than not. By isolating it from production you can really identify defensive liabilities or chemistry problems. Clearly Jefferson is a problem - we are getting blown out by an average of 21 points/48 minutes with him on the floor vs one of our centers. There is no way to sugar coat that, but I welcome you to try.

Now if you want to get more technical you can use adjusted +/- which accounts for quality of players they face, but the trend is usually the same as we see Jefferson at a gruesome -30!! This is the system Houston GM Daryl Morey uses to evaluate players.

This is inaccurate.

I think it's pretty well established that Morey uses a variety of systems to evaluate players, many of which are proprietary and not publicly available.
