What's new

ENES KANTER's match is starting now Turkey & Ukrain LIVE MATCH LINK HERE :) <<<<

I think a dead Kanter is a better defender than Boozer. And kanter plays very tough. Boozer doesnt use his body and make hustles like Kanter.

What I saw was improvement from the time the Kanter entered the game until the end. His defense at the beginning of the game was suspect and full of holes/easy baskets but near the end he really bodied up his man and never let anything easy happen.

I also wanted to note that the black guy for the Ukranian team was blowing by everyone on the Turkish team and not just Kanter.

He will learn in time. We will have a better idea in European championship next month in more serious games. But i liked what i have seen so far. He is very hardworking. Just a difficult rookie year awaits him.

I totally agree with you on that.

Thanks for posting the link to the game.
I like what I see... I realize Enes is lacking in playing time, so I'm glad that he gets this chance to go play. I do like his hustle. I also like his rebounding and feel it can only help the Jazz. I do feel he will continue to improve.
I look forward to seeing the upcoming games.
Thanks again!

He is big I watched the second half and he was doing fine holding Fess from backing him down. If he had problems in the first half then you can definitely see that he is seeing a weakness and working on it. Which is a huge positive that is why he now needs in game minutes. Plus Fess is a very big man and has been playing a couple of years in the NBA.

His name is Steve Burtt, his dad played in the NBA for 4 years before playing in Greece, were he was pretty good before being banned for Cocaine and Hashish.

did u know that word Asssasin comes from Hashash.

In medieval age, an arabic gang leader, make his disciples smoke hashash and pledge them gorgeous things, wealth when they are under effect of hashash. Then they try to accomplish their missions very hard to reach those things and become perfect Assasins.

Nicely timed double by Kanter on the other end though. Kanter's defender seems pretty legit though.

I didn't get to watch, but it seems fairly likely his second half defender (#14 according to the comments on this board) was Vyacheslav Kravtsov (see https://www.eurobasket.com/Ukraine/basketball-National-Team.asp -- the current roster is messed up, but it indicates Kravtsov was #14 on the national team a couple years ago). Remember him? A couple years back there was some discussion on this board about possibly drafting him. Consensus seemed to be that he had even better defensive potential than Fes, but was even more of a project on offense.

Yeah, I googled him and thats the guy. Athletic and good defender. He beat Kanter down the court for a fast break alley oop. Seems like he could be in the NBA from a purely defensive/athletic/size standpoint.

Again with the preface that I didn't get to see the game: it seems like Kanter's defenders (Fes and Kravtsov) were quite a test for a 19-year old with very little game experience over the past few years. Certainly better than anything he would have faced in college and perhaps better than what he will face most days in the NBA (outside of Howard, Chandler, Noah and perhaps a few others).

I know its his first game back, but it just pains me to read this knowing Jonas V has been putting up 25 and 10 regularly with incredible defense as well.

You mean in the U-19 tournament?

I believe most were from the U19, but did it in at least one prelim game as well. He did lose to AK's Russia team with a more tempered 14 and 7. I'm not overly concerned with his box score stats, more so his lack of lift and those knee braces.

He probably wears knee braces as a precautionary thing. I sprained my left ankle pretty badly 2 years ago playing ball and I always wear an ankle brace on it despite being 100% healed. And lack lift is surprising too you? The guy only have a 27 inch no step vert, 32 inch max despite being in excellent physical conditioning. This guy is a taller version of Kevin Love/ Carlos Boozer, this was to be expected.

I had the same thoughts running through my head the entire game. I am glad to hear the Val is human and he was not able to put up 25 and 17 against Russia. I am really encouraged by the hustle and physical play that I saw from Kanter. I only see things getting much better form here. I am so excited for today and tomorrows games to see if any improvements are made.

I am a little bored so I thought that I would post my predictions for Kanter today.

14 pts 8 reb 1 blk 50% fg

What are your predictions?
