Following potential 2013 draftees

I think he adds a nice new dimension to this team we don't have right now.

I totally agree. Especially if Kanter is for real.

How a team builds its big rotation and plays them is where you find the meat of the variation in strategy in the NBA. On this point, I've thought about writing an absolutely ridiculously rambling and huge post. I've touched on some of those thoughts in the Kanter/Favors vs Gasol/Randolph thread. But yes, that dimension can be very useful and Matt Bonner has proven that to at least some degree for years now (and knowing that your limited, floor-spreading big is a DIMENSION and not your starting/closing center every single night [Memo]).

Harden recruiting Howard. This is good news for us (Dallas less likely to trade the #13 pick knowing Howard isn't a lock to sign with them):

In recent months, Harden made it clear that he was planning to recruit free agents this summer. Now, with free agency still roughly six weeks away, he’s already starting to call and text some potential targets for Houston to sell them on the city, situation and future. Most free agents, including Howard, are big fans of Harden’s game and have a lot of respect for the up-and-coming shooting guard. On Wednesday afternoon, Harden confirmed via his Twitter account that he has been recruiting some players.

Also I think Dirk's salary is too big to fit in an additional player (i.e., Chris Paul). If they can't do that, I'd say the Dirk-Howard-Paul team is a no-go.

Actually the HOU: Harden-Howard-Paul would be a pretty good team. Very well balanced. Young and exciting too.

Some stuff from Chad Ford:
Really think the Jazz will pass on a point guard at 14?
Don't think the Jazz are convinced there's a starting PG there for them at 14. If there isn't, they take the best available player. Remember, the Jazz like PGs that can shoot the ball -- Michael Carter-Williams, Dennis Schroeder don't really qualify. Shane Larkin might be the best fit if they really want a PG, but 14 might be a little high.
.
Chad, any chance Mavs either deal the 13th pick or draft an Euro player to stash him?
Yes, I reported last night that it's LIKELY the Mavs trade the pick to clear cap space for a Dwight Howard run. Since they owe the Thunder a pick in 2014, they could only trade the pick after they made the selection on draft night (in a pre-arranged deal). They also could draft an international player if he agrees to stay overseas one more year. The Mavs could just get a letter from the player and his agent stating that and he'd come off the cap. That could be a scenario where Dario Saric goes to the Mavs.
.
What kind of offers could the Cavs expect for the #1 pick?

Don't think Cavs fans will be happy. Just talked to half the GMs in the league, and they are all looking to sell their picks. No one really wants No. 1, nor are they willing to give up a valuable asset to get it. I think the Cavs will have a hard time moving it.

That all sounds plausible.

if we take

Larkin

and Erik Murphy

im very happy. lets shoot the double team off of kanter. I like James Southerland better than Murphy but thats because hes from NY, i think Southerland has more risk/reward

Hahaha.. sounds like the Cavs want Porter and not Noel. I guess it makes sense as they've already got Varejao there...

PKM what do you think of Archie falling to 31 on DX's Mock??

if thats the case i hope the jazz trade up/buy that pick.

Gobert @14
Larkin@21
Archie@31
Southerland@46
