Here's the list of teams Kaminsky worked out with: Knicks, Kings, Pistons, Heat, Pacers, Suns... Am I missing someone?
None of those teams have 2 established/not old starter bigs. Heat are the closest to it and they have a nutcase in Whiteside and an aging Bosh who might have health issues. So I think they are clearly angling for a spot where he can start in due time.

I wonder what do agents think when they see our roster. I feel like bigs with high ambitions would be straying away from the Jazz. I don't see any reasonable scenario where the bigs at 12 would be able to beat Gobert and Favors for the starting spot, so they probably are thinking their player would be a 3d big for the foreseeable future. I think Turner is the only one who can potentially push Gobert/Favors in the future if everything pans our well with him(which is still a very doubtful proposition). At the same time - this is the position with the clearest need for depth for the Jazz - we have only 3 bigs that are real NBA-bigs who would be able to play in playoff games so the path to at least the 3d big spot is the clearest.

On the other hand, our guard/wing spots with the exception of Hayward are wide-open. I don't think any of Burks, Hood, Exum, Burke, Ingles, Millsap has put their stamp on the starting spot in a way similar to the way our front-court has. But at the same time those are the positions that are most crowded on the Jazz. We have somewhere between 4 and 5 players that can possibly play games in playoffs but none of them is established starter and some of them are bench players at best. That's why I can see top-level wings/guards in the draft being more willing to work out for us. I wonder why Booker has not worked out for us yet or if he will at all...

I'm straying away and rambling a bit, but the bottom line is, for the Jazz this draft would be a choice between - picking depth at 4/5, or picking a player at 2/3 to challenge for the starting spot if none of our current players pan out in a year or two.

This. Most likely his agent who is trying to control where he's drafted. I haven't see anything where Kaminsky has said he doesn't like Utah or won't play here. I think it's BDA Sports. Don't think they have any Jazz players. They have Stanley Johnson though. He hasn't been in to work out either.

DX has Kaminsky ranked #9.

cbssports.com has Kaminsky ranked #12.

nbadraft.net has Kaminsky ranked #25.

Jeff Goodman has Kaminsky ranked #14.

Jay Bilas has Kaminsky ranked #9.

Soo.. Not sure how he is widely considered a top-10 prospect.
 
I'm not in love with Kaminsky, but I can see how the fit with the Jazz is amazing. He provides precisely what we need and the chance of him being able to do it at a good level in the NBA is pretty good I would say. I still prefer Turner's long-term potential, but I would completely understand the FO if on draft-night they pick Kaminsky ahead of turner... the skill-set and fit are simply too good to get upset over it.

I would be on board if the Jazz took Kaminsky, but I would question it if it was ahead of Turner.

12. Utah Jazz - Myles Turner, F/C, Texas

The Jazz have been looking at around seven players at this spot: Turner, Trey Lyles, Kaminsky, Johnson, Dekker, Looney and Oubre. You can make a solid argument for each of them. However, if Turner somehow falls to them at 12, I don't know how they pass. The Jazz have the ability to be patient. They have starters at every position and money to add a few free agent veterans to support the bench. And Turner gives them something they don't have - a big man who can really stretch the floor. If Turner is gone, I think Lyles is the next most likely option at 12.

This makes me think that if Turner is there the Jazz are taking him. It is interesting that he thinks Utah would take Lyles next after that.
 
Frank is still my first choice of the dudes that are supposed to be there. (Frank, oubre, turner, dekker, lyles, portis, etc)
