Following potential 2017 draftees...

Just barely starting to look at the draft this year and out of the gate I'm liking Lydon for our late 1st round range. Kuzma is intriguing as well but I cant see the hype around TJ Leaf.

Collection of random thoughts. Good day.

here's all you need to know about why there is hype around Leaf. As a true freshman, his PER was 27 and he had a TS% of 66%. Both numbers are elite. He's 6'10" and is a plus athlete. much better player as a freshman than Lyles was coming out of UK.

haven said that, like any other prospect you can poke holes in him (short WS, can he play the 3, defense, FT shooting, etc), but if you don't see the hype, look no further than his production as a true frosh.

He has a slow, funky release.

The more I look at this draft, the more I hate DL's lottery selections in the past. The prospects we are looking at right now at 24, 30, or even in the second round seem to have much more talent than the likes of Trey Burke, Trey Lyles or even Dante......

DL picked Lyles because they liked his unique skill set, and stretch four "don't grow on trees". Now here we are, Leaf, Kuzma, Lydon, Rabb, or even Swanigan, Semi, Wilson, all legitimate stretch four potentials and better shooters than Lyles in college. So they do grow on trees.

They drafted Lyles more for his playmaking than for his shooting.

That's just called hind sight. Let me remind you how good Burke was in college, and he did this as a sophomore.

ATLANTA -- The trophy case has spoken.

Trey Burke's the national player of the year, and it's not even close.

The Michigan sophomore point guard was given the 2013 Naismith Trophy on Sunday at the 2013 National Association of Basketball Coaches Award Show in Atlanta.

Burke has now won every major national player of the year award this season, earning The Associated Press Player of the Year, the Wooden Award, the Oscar Robertson Trophy and the Naismith Trophy.

He was also named the NABC Division I Player of the Year on Sunday night.

Trey Burke was the #1 consensus PG of that draft. He wasn't considered a reach at #9. ESPN praised the pick. Meanwhile, CJ McCollum was out with a broken foot.

Jordan Bell had a real great combine .

Might have to take him at 24 if we want him.

I can guarantee you that teams are going to miss not taking him.

I don't know how good he's going to be. But he's got freakish athetlicism and a kawhi Leonard like motor. I'd strongly consider him at 24 and definitely take him at 30. At the very least he could come in and play backup to Favors, average a few dunks, get us a few offensive rebounds, and block a shot. His athleticism is and motor are just fantastic. At the very least he's Tristan Thompson/young Paul Millsap.

He isn't nearly as big as Favors though so couldn't double as a backup center. He does seem to have a good motor and is a ferocious competitor.

You're right, he wouldn't be able to play backup center. I guess I always figured that if Favors were healthy he'd be our starting 4.
