What's new

Following potential 2017 draftees...

Have people made the comparison of Josh Hart to Wesley Matthews... I think I'd take Hart with #30... liked him before but was concerned with age... Pelton's analysis has him #13 ranked prospect... says a lot considering he's a senior.

I think he's a rotation player and no way he will be there at 42.

I think Derrick White could be kind of a poor mans Hill. He's a worse defender, and might be a similar athlete to Hill currently, but has good length and is a good shooter. Good, but not great vision. Just an all around solid guard.

He'd make a great backup/spot starter, and maybe eventual starter. Plus he can play off-ball. Bring him to me.

If were going to beat GSW we need a player who can put up 30 points, in our range its a short list. Frank Mason will be there last im going to say it

Damn, Patton is moving up the boards. I was hoping he'd fall to the 20s, but that's looking like a pipe dream now. He's my second favorite big in the draft, maybe even my favorite.

Lydon at 24 is a good pick. Hell no to Bradley in the 1st-round.

Damn.. Evans fell to 38. If we could get him at 42 it would be a steal.

I would prefer to see them as draft Semi Ojeley at #24 and then see which big man falls to #30. Wouldn't surprise me at all to see Lydon fall that far. I can honestly say that I hate the Tony Bradley pick. Would much rather have ANY of the next 6 picks - Hartenstein, Kuzma, Swanigan, Bell, Jackson or Bolden. In fact, I'd take one at #30 (Jordan Bell) and then trade 42, 55 and cash to get another one from that same group of players. That would be a great draft.

Also wouldn't mind seeing the Jazz take a late flyer on Jonathan Jeanne and hope he can return to basketball like Isaiah Austin has. DL has both Baylor connections and a good working relationship with Jeanne's agent. CBS Sports floated the idea that somebody takes a chance on him getting medically cleared someday. If you managed it right, I could easily see that happening.

I mean, I get the interest in Bradley. Giant wingspan and huge standing reach while being decently mobile with a high motor. Seems like there is an extremely high floor there, especially if his jump shot impressed. He might not have the ceiling because of the lack of explosiveness, but when you have a 9'5 standing reach and can move your feet how explosive do you really need to be to have an impact as a backup?

His height to wingspan and height to standing reach ratios are nearly similar to Rudy Gobert's. At 6'10 having a 7'5 wingspan and 9'4.5 standing reach is bonkers. Maybe the Jazz think because he is so young, there is still some athletic potential once his body matures.

Now that I think about it more, I think I like him more than Pazenciks. He is 2 years young and already far tougher on the boards. Bradley's rebounding should definitely translate from Day 1 and I'm not positive Pazenciks will have the same luxury adapting to the NBA game. I think Bradley has Marc Gasol like defensive upside. Seems like a smart kid and has a huge body. Won't be a shot blocking threat like Rudy, but could learn to play elite positional defense with his length and feet.

And yes, this is me talking myself into one of the least sexy picks the Jazz can make.

I hope it's not Lydon at 24. I just don't see him ever developing into more than a backup SF/PF role player who is probably just a 3 point specialist. I think that's his ceiling. And with multiple players who have higher upsides likely to be available I just can't talk myself into that selection if it happens.
