Following Potential 2025 Draftees

Also, regarding Fears and fit, the idea next year is that we will draft Boozer, AJ, or Peterson (and with terrible luck Cenac/Ament/Lopez).

So I don't think drafting a PG at the top 5 is a terrible idea. The star wing is coming next year.

All of the guys at #5 are role players other than Fears and Queen (who are boom/bust guys), I don't see Kon specifically standing out at all as a role player either good or bad. VJ has no star potential whatsoever and less than Kon.

It feels like a bizarre pre rationalization of picking Kon. The Jazz are picking Kon over Ace (if it happens) if their new scouts are stats guys, not because of some bizarre "Kon is a better fit as a role player" thing. Ace has to be a role player in the NBA too.

I think Kon is a very maleable player and would work well with anyone really which is why I said that.
That makes sense.

Although I think you are basically saying that Kon is projected to be a role player. I don't disagree that getting really good basketball players that can play with anyone is a bad strategy. I think that VJ would also work with any of the 3 guys from the 2026 draft as well.

I think which player we get would determine what type of PG we would want. Peterson is going to be playing with the ball in his hands a lot, and so I would prefer Kas next to Peterson who I think can play more off ball than Fears. AJ/Boozer can play more off ball and so having a more ball dominant point guard like Fears is probably ok.

(None of these opinions are very strong opinions as I would like to see what these players look like in College)

VJ is much more of a pure role player than Kon. Kon played kind of like Devin Booker in college (just with bad athleticism) whereas VJ has no offensive game at all.
"no offensive game at all" c'mon now.

i'm not much of a vj fan - he's clearly behind ace and tre in my mind, but my dude put up 17 ppg on 45/39/82 shooting splits and 3+ apg in conference play this year. you don't do that if you don't have some offensive game.

I think projecting Kon to be a high end role player and a really good 4th or 5th option on a championship team is fair. There are outcomes where he turns into the 3rd best player.

If I try to read some tea leaves here, the Jazz may really want Tre Johnson, enough to trade up with Philadelphia. However, a deal with Philly may be too difficult to put together. If the Jazz think Edgecombe goes at 4 to Charlotte (like almost everyone else seems to think) and the Jazz have concerns about Ace Bailey, then that would explain why they'd look at Jeremiah Fears or even Kon Knueppel.

In other words, the Jazz may not be comfortable with Ace for one reason or another and he may be the guy most likely to slip to #5.

In college, yes.
Booker didn't run PNR in college and shot off the dribble. Kon ran PNR and didn't shoot off the dribble.

The overlap for them is skilled C&S, but that is a skill shared by a lot of players. I don't see the comp at all, even just in college.

Should probably just mute that clown.
