Following Potential 2025 Draftees

What I have learned from 479 pages of draft chat...

White athletes are not black athletes
Kon Knipples is a white athlete but nonetheless he is God and HH owns a shrine
Tre can shoot but he has no stocks or bonds
The Jazz will never win the lottery unless we gift our best player to the Lakers
The Spurs won't ever consider trading down... but they might...

Did I miss any of the main points?

Fears is the guy I am having a hard time with. Reminds me of Tre Mann but maybe he puts it together.

Its ironic that in this draft we are having the white/black convo. The number 1 pick is a white guy that has comps ranging from Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, Scottie Pippen, Shawn Marion etc. Just too bad he will have to live with AK47, Dirk, Bird, etc.

He's a real boom or bust prospect IMO. Heavily dependent on the shot, otherwise there isn't a great fallback plan. Much risker than someone like Ace who has like 12 different ways he can carve out a career.

PG's taken this high have a really good record....I don't have a super great argument against Fears, but I prefer the other options.

Not gonna call out anyone specifically, but the first thing someone listed as criteria for comparison was "white" earlier in the thread lol.
I thought you were saying that for some people skin color is the most important thing. You omitted the part about most important thing for comparisons. That was why I was confused.
I agree that skin color is probably the most important thing in comparisons for some people, and I think that's fine.
For some people size will be the most important thing. For some people it will be shooting form. For some it will be athleticism. For some it will be defense. When comparing things one will usually look for similarities between the things that are being compared.
I doubt you can find anyone who would compare Stockton to Jokic though so I think that even those who think skin color is an important factor in a comparison wouldn't have skin color as their number 1 thing in comps. I think size and role and skill set etc comes before skin color for everyone.

I got to the Givony part about VJ playing with Wright and Roach.....I think there's some validity to that. OTOH, VJ was pretty bad with the ball in his hands so it's hard to excuse him too much. Jase was really good though. I think he's the guy who got nerfed by teammates the most.

I haven't seen anyone compare him to dirk lol. Or Ak. Bird I can see a little bit he is way more bouncy/explosive.
I been comparing him to LeBron a bit as he seems to be pretty good at everything at such a young age. A phenom

Interesting note, but Hannes Steinbach has been outplaying Essengue (at least looking at stats) in these recent playoff games. Steinbach is playing for Washington next year.

It was a joke lol. AK was a comp used earlier in the season though.

It’s interesting that Essengue better in the Eurocup games than the German League. The former is the higher level of competition and it’s not like it’s a shooting variance thing. He only dunks and shoots fts.

Saraf’s performance is more in line with what you’d expect.

He has to play off guard.

Because someone who generated most of his own offense with higher efficiency than almost any other prospect while leading a great offense while he was on the court (better than any of the top prospect's offense other than Duke) and was only 18 during the college season, definitely can't play on ball.

Not as a primary, no.

Any guard in today's league has to be able to contribute when he's off the ball. Almost no one dominates the ball all the time. This is one of the question marks with smaller guards like Fears. How effective is he moving off the ball and shooting off the ball, etc. This is one of the main issues with Collier. When he's not on the ball, he's not even a decoy.

CraftedNBA released their 2025 draft guide. Pretty good stuff. The usual suspects showing up as sleepers, the usual suspects showing up as potential busts. This is the second best draft since 2010 based on the average of the top 35 prospects. 4 "elite" prospects this year.

Thanks for the link. Can you give us a quick and dirty on where they're coming from? Are they stat based, or do they prefer certain types over others? I'm not sure what's quite getting two players I've never heard of to have higher rankings than both gunner types (Ace, Trey, Fears(?)) and 3 & D types (Coward, Powell)

My only gripes on Fears is he's a tick small and the shooting will have to improve.

He's a damn nice player, though. I've got him at #5 on my board and would love to have him if Ace / Tre go 3-4 in some order.

The people who are talking themselves out of Kas remind of the people who talked themselves out of Doncic enough for him to slide to 3. There's definitely a reprise of sorts going on here.
