Following Potential 2025 Draftees

If we do draft Fears the dynamic between him and Collier in SL would be fascinating. Got to think Collier would have a huge chip on his shoulder getting drafted over
In general Collier has impressed me with his attitude so far. It's never great to have someone drafted over you high in the draft, but I think he will continue to be a pro and fight for his spot just like he did when he started behind Keyonte and took his spot in the starting lineup by the end of the year. Their dynamic will be interesting though... Also... 2 PGs, both of whom are not great shooters would be interesting in a setting like SL, where ball dominant guards usually have the most opportunity to shine.

If DA has a type it’s 100% Ace.
DA has been around a while. He has a few types. Kyrie, IT, Key, Sexton… Bailey may look like Tatum and Brown but his brain says Andrew Wiggins… Celtics were famously into brain typing.

If I'm the Jazz, I offer to trade up to 4 with Charlotte and promise not to take their guy. It's the same move Washington made with Indiana to secure Coulibaly when other teams were after him.

Jazz get Tre or Ace and don't have to worry about anything happening around them. Charlotte gets VJ or Kon. If Charlotte then wants to trade back again with New Orleans or Brooklyn, while Washington takes Fears then they can do that too.

You pick Fears because he's the only guy in this class with easily projectable star upside.

He's just an uncomfortable to pick because he's probably going to fail in the NBA (much more high risk than the other prospects) and because he's a well below average passer and defender for his position right now (and the Jazz are the worst passing and defending team in the NBA)

But a Fears pick is a suggestion that the Jazz will just keep taking extremely raw and high risk players until they finally hit on a star.

Also, I think Carter Bryant has become the most overrated prospect. I get kind of worried when I hear about how unskilled he was in HS. What really makes him better than Drake Powell outside of frame/weight?

Hi offense has a long ways to go. I agree that he doesn't really belong in the top 10.

His activity level put him in a different level than Powell for me, but yeah, I do think they are similar.

Rebounds + stocks
True, but I just worry the necessary skill isn't there. Also think Bryant was in a better situation. I still have Bryant ahead of Powell too (think like 19 vs 25, or something in that range). Just think Bryant is too high for a lot of people and the gap between them isn't huge and I would say it's like 60/40 Bryant has a better career and I would say Powell has more upside because I believe in his offensive ceiling more.

Bryant just hasn't shown me enough skill on offense to truly buy him as a lottery prospect.

I know "stocks" is some hilarious inside joke, but for those of us not in on it.........steals?

Also, I beg you all to use "archetype" one more time each before draft day. Is that part of a drinking game?

steals + blocks

I don't think you're necessarily wrong about the concerns. Bryant has shared offensive concerns with TH, but also doesn't have a sure jumpshot. But for two players whose main selling point is defense, I think those rebounds and stocks carry a lot of weight. The low activity stats is a pretty big red flag for Powell, but obviously the game is not played on paper. I have Bryant as a late lotto guy IIRC, but he's not exactly a guy that jumps out as a clear lotto prospect IMO. Powell could be considered better later down in the draft.

99.99% sure it’s not a smoke screen. Not just that I’ve heard it from like 2-3 national sources and local sources but heard it from a reliable weird @bigmike style source that would have no purpose in pushing an agenda. Old man Ainge has a type…

Well...I'm officially terrified now. Preparing myself for a major letdown tomorrow.

I'd be excited for Fears. Tre would be my favorite pick, and left to my own druthers I'd go Ace over Fears, but I'd take Fears over VJ / Kon pretty emphatically.

He's butter with the ball in his hands and I think he'll develop as a 3P shooter (mechanics are sound, great from the FT line).

I would imagine that spells the end of the Isaiah Collier era, but who knows.
