Following Potential 2025 Draftees

Penda vs CMB is interesting to me. I think they are similarly sized and defensively oriented. Penda is probably a bit taller and CMB is a bit longer, but Penda is further along with the ball skills that teams want out of a 4.

There’s actually a ton of decent physical/defensive wing prospects this year.

Bryant
Penda
Thiero
Clifford
Powell
Watkins
Hugo

I don’t know if rank them all, but I like the idea of drafting one of them over the more offensive oriented guys like McNeely/Riley

FWIW, Penda is playing the most minutes for his team in a playoff series against Monaco. Monaco just lost in the Euroleague final. Very high level of competition.

Think he should be ahead of Powell. Does not look super athletic in highlights, but does actually get Reb/Ast/Stls. Shooting looks equally as bad.
he's about as elite defensively as anybody i remember at that age.

It's hard to adjust for the completely different leagues, but I have CMB as a way better defender than Penda. I actually think Penda is going to be pretty average defensively in the NBA.

I'll admit to only going off of Cashiggy videos for my opinions on Penda, I haven't ever seen a full game. Although I doubt many people on here has seen Penda play live either.

This might be interesting to people here.

They emphasized the importance of high-level basketball IQ here, which was great to hear. This guy summed it up pretty well: “Your brain has to make so many decisions under pressure with a lot of moving pieces, and to find guys that are able to think the game, be able to make those decisions, be able to see things happening before they can happen. Sometimes you see that with their passing, or their ability to anticipate in the passing lanes and steals. The impact of a player overall, both from the mental aspect as well as the energy that they bring, are the things that jump out to me when looking at evaluating a prospect.”

There is a lot of smoke around Fears to BKN. Will he make it to 8? Would they trade up to 5 or 3 to get him? I feel like we could see something where we end up at #3, BKN at #5, PHI at #8. If PHI wants Kon, they can get him at #8 as long as he doesn't go #4 or #7 (and they know UTA and BKN are also not taking him).

DAL - Flagg
SAS - Harper
UTA - VJ/Tre/Ace
CHO - VJ/Tre/Ace
BKN - Fears
WAS - VJ/Tre/Ace
NOP - Maluach???
PHI - Kon

Has the Calipari boost ever applied to non-skilled players?

The idea is that Calipari makes everyone look less skilled. But to your point, it's been a lot of guards.

Non-guards:

Isaiah Jackson (22)
PJ Washington (12)
Kevin Knox (9)
Jarred Vanderbilt (41)
Bam Adebayo (14)
Skal Labissiere (28)

Willie Calulie-Stein (6)
Trey Lyles (12)
Dakari Johnson (48)

Michael Kidd Gilchrist (2)
Terrence Jones (18)
Darius Miller (46)
Josh Harrellson (45)

Not sure why Jazz would move up to 3 when it's reported they will be very happy with whoever is left at 5
