Following Potential 2025 Draftees

Smoke is blowing in all directions. A minute ago, they were having dinner with VJ Edgecome, and VJ was hanging out with Tyrese Maxey. That said, the Sixers are committed to the Embiid/PG timeline for now, a rookie probably won't help them much, and they need some financial flexibility. Trading back makes some sense for them. This is probably them phishing for updated trade offers from WAS, NOL and BRK.

Riley cooked in his Jazz workout too. My source said "he’s super tough".

Not tough as the traditional sense but as the Gen Z sense of he’s a hooper.

Hardy and both Ainges salivating right now. One day, they'll have an entire 15 man roster of guys that were plausible shot creators in AAU and are physically unable of defending even slightly in the NBA.

I think if VJ goes at #3 (and he's not routed to the Jazz), some multi-team trade will break out where the Jazz move to 4 to take Tre, the Pels or Nets move to 5 to take Ace, and the Hornets move back to 7 or 8 to take either Kasparas or Maluach. Charlotte takes some compensation from the Jazz plus the other team. Everyone gets their guy at the right price.

What if Ace and his camp are specifically trying to scare away Philly? What if he doesnt have a specific destination in mind but he is just trying to avoid becoming the 4th banana?

I would think that's part of it. I think he wants Brooklyn or New Orleans to trade up for him. Teams that are trying to win now don't have a lot of minutes or extra touches to give to rookies. Ask Reed Sheppard.

I am concerned about Fears. Really poor shooting numbers. Givony said he is a top 3 - 4 ball handler, but I don't see that translating next to Collier if he can't shoot. Givony also said he is going to be bad next season because he is barely 18.

Everytime I do this mental exercise I end up in the same spot:

VJ, Tre, Ace (whoever falls) at the 5. No need to trade up unless it is cheap or we highly prefer one over the others.

Ace is my least favorite pick of the three, but he is also the most likely to get you the biggest capital in a trade down after you take him. So, if Ace, Fears, or someone else is really your guy then get Ace and you cash in that shiny piece for something else.

My biggest concern is that Flagg, Harper, VJ, and Tre are gone 1 - 4 and we 100% aren't taking Ace (Bailey free falls like Cam) and we are left with the 5th guy in a 4 guy draft. That would suck. I guess we get a Kon-solation prize which isn't bad.

Honestly, AA's answer to how to build a team is boring but correct. You just have to keep making the right decision over and over again. No plan is going to work without a sequence of good decisions and of course a lot of luck. The Pacers tried to sign Ayton. The Raptors tried to trade Lowry to the Knicks. You need to be good, but also it's better to be lucky than good :)
Like when the Jazz drafted Malone and Stockton 13 and 16 two years in a row  that would’ve gotten us a title or two had it not been for Jordan stopping everyone.

I just don’t see us passing on Ace, regardless of all this noise, if the draft goes Flagg/Harper/VJ/Ace.

But I also think Charlotte would be stupid to take Tre and add him to Ball/Miller.

Chaz is pretty bad as well, but definitely has a better chance than Brea.

I was just going off of height.
Ok, yeah, maybe it's Chaz since he at least had good athletic testing numbers.

Looking back at Jaylen's numbers, there is nothing besides height, shooting, and some decent athletic testing numbers to suggest he could be an NBA player. His other numbers were all bad.
