What's new

For those of you who don't like Jimmer...

Jimmer is not a 2, doesn't play like a 2, will never be a 2. I don't care whether your evaluation of him is good or bad, just make sure it comes with the point guard position in mind. His point guard skills have come a long way.

This.

Of course, many of the Cougar fans here will continue to assume that anyone who doesn't want to draft Jimmer is a buffoon.

Steve Nash
Chase Buddinger
JJ Reddick
Peja
Mike Bibby (is he white?)
Brent Barry
Marco Belinelli
Manu Ginobli
Jason Kidd
that pg in Sacramento
not sure about Steve Blake
Ricky Rubio if he ever plays

a few others probably

Only Redick and Buddinger fit that description. The rest are either not white or were not drafted in the last 10 years. FAIL.

The kid has range beyond 90 percent of current nba players, has the abilty to hit set shots as well as moving or off balance. He creates opportunites for himself at an impressive rate (over 60 percent of his attempts) and has a calm humble demeanor with a decent iq.

That said he is a weak defender. He doesn't have the lateral quickness to defend well. He lacks athletic leaping and movement. He is a below average passer and has has one of the worst a/t.o. ratios among draftable pgs as well as a very low pure point guard rating.

I feel he is suited perfectly for golden state or phoenix. Teams that are fast, that need range and aren't punished for faulty defense by coaching staff. He could be a serious weapon on a team like that off the bench.

Agreed. He's a very poor fit for the Jazz system. He's too small to play shooting guard, not a good enough passer to play point guard, and a lousy defender. Please don't draft this guy unless he's available in the second round.

Skin color means absolutely nothing. Stop bringing up his skin color. How many MVP's have been white in the past 6 years, guy?

Well done. This obsession with skin color that some people have is ridiculous.

Also Buddinger and Hayward are more SF not guards. Only Reddick was probably worth a first round pick in the last 10 years and he was even drafted too high.

Reasons why we should say no to Fredette:
1) The thing he brings to the table is shooting and he is not in the top 100 NCAA players in 3 pt shooting percentage.
2) Tweeners typically only do well if they are tremendously athletic. He is not.
3) Questionable decision making and at times terrible shot selection
4) Turns the ball over too much
5) Has not shown the ability to play against length
6) Never call a grown man Jimmer

He is a great college player. So was Adam Morrison

"Have come a long way" and "NBA caliber" are mutually exclusive.

Gom gets it right. Sums it all up right there.

And notice I am not the only one who thinks his name is ridiculous. Of course when I brought it up I got flamed for it. Glad to see so many BYU fans are so charitable.
