What's new

For you Al apologists out there:

Big al is young and still trying to fit in. Once he has a full training camp with Corbin and the rest of our team I'm sure he will dominate offensively and defensively

Who else takes shots in crunch time? Who's our go-to guy? How do we let our best player, and leading scorer/rebounder, just walk?

Unfortunately, this FO doesn't get past the above questions.

We'd have to develop that. The answer is we'd don't have that man now if Big Al walks. However, having Big Al isn't the answer going forward.
We can't really build around Big Al. We've seen Big Al without Sap, and the results were terrible.

Time to go with the young guns next year, and go for superstar in the 2014 draft. I can live with giving up next year(it will still be fun to watch the young guns develop), and
going for a home run in the lottery to add with our impressive young core.

Jefferson is the only player that can reliably get his own shot or draw a double-team, when the defense is intensified in crunch time.

Burks and Kanter will get there, maybe even by the end of the season, but they are not there yet.

More stats to back up the notion that Al is not a good player to have on your team.

This on top of the fact that he uses possessions below league average and he takes more shots than anyone on the team should lead to nobody being surprised that this team is more Bipolar than Russell Brand.

We will never be anything but mediocre with Al on this team.

Also, do you Al fans realize that if the Jazz sign Al to a big deal, which he will get from some team, that they are saying that he is the future and are forcing themselves to trade Favors or Kanter?

You can't have all three.

I forgot the Jazz MO.

They won't trade Favors or Kanter. They will talk about assets for another year and half, then let them walk in FA for nothing, because they couldn't find a trade that was beneficial to the Jazz and wanted to let the guys compete...

I wonder if the Jazz would be better defensively, playing 4 on 5, without Jefferson.

What if the Jazz had five players play, but Earl only stayed on the defensive half of the court, and Al only on the offensive.

Would anyone notice a difference?

Yep, if the Jazz pay Al what he is being paid right now they will end up committing 60% of their payroll to their 3-big rotation. That wont work long-term.

Some have suggested that we just trade Al when Kanter is ready, but Al and his contract will be untradeable then just as it is now.

If Jefferson is as awful as you say, he won't get a big deal. You don't really think you know better than the professional scouts around the league, do you?

I agree we don't need three large salaries in two positions, but I don't see Jefferson commanding a large salary, and if he does, it won't be on the Jazz.

He will get paid, I just hope it isn't by us.

And teams overpay players all the time, you just hope its not the team you support. Look at Rudy Gay for a quick example.

Never been an All-Star, never been on an All-NBA team and a team STILL paid him a max contract.
