Gordon Hayward -> the next Pete Maravich?

They're completely different players, dude. It took Dunleavy 7 years (after 3 years of college) to average more than 3.0 APG (he hit 3.5)-- Hayward hit 3.1 in his sophomore season, and he's on track for 4-5 this season.

Hayward is much more of a Manu (career 15/4/4 player) than Dunleavy, if we're trying to find non-black Hayward comparisons. Hayward needs to keep working on his at-the-rim finishing, and his handle in order to get to Manu's level though. Keep in mind, Manu was 26 when he came into the NBA.

Good post, Dal

Pretty sure you forgot Reddick, Dunleavy, Adam Morrison, Nikola Jokic, many ginobili, joe Ingles, and porzingis... those guys are white too. And hornacek.

All I am saying is Maravich and Hayward are not comparable because, Maravich loved to be the star of the show, hit shots in clutch situations and was consistant, averaged 26 ppg while with the Jazz and did that while usually being hung over. Hayward is a great player, but even with a strong team around him, he isn't making anyone better around him. He also doesn't put the game on his back in tough situations and carry the Jazz to victory. I'm not saying that Hayward isn't a great player, but you cannot compare him to Pistol Pete. Hayward has a lot of good games, and twice a year he has "elite" games. Pistol Pete would call Haywards "elite" games, Tuesday.
