What's new

Hayward

he certainly complements our current roster on a skills-basis very well-- but he would be a negative for team morale.

Team morale is important-- it's what allows for people like AB (who recorded more DNPs than games this season) to step into the playoffs and drop22 points in an elimination game.

Basically every player on our roster stepped up at one point during our playoffs-- it was fun to watch. Excruciating not seeing us live up to our potential with respect to the injuries.

We don't miss him specifically now. We needed him gone for Mitchell to develop and become the player he is.

Now we need a player like Hayward or better to join us to get to the next level. But definitely not Hayward himself.

We really need another player that can create, shoot well and play defense.

And definitely not at the price Hayward would have commanded.

Alright, let's not kid ourselves. Good players playing with other good players do nothing but compliment each other.

The only "in the way" discussion to be had is when it comes to stat lines and the moronic MVP discussion. LeBron is still clearly the best player on the planet and KD number 2. But KD won't win it because Harden "deserves one" despite the fact that GSW is about to plow through him.

BTW, QS just exposed their weakness with his purely drive and dish offense. Imagine a superstar team doing it. By by Hoostan.

Haywood being here would have stunted Donovans growth. Haywood would have always been the #1 option offensively. Which would have been bad for us.

Either Hood or Hayward will be watching their team play in the Finals this season. Weird thought.

He went to play with his old coach in a larger market. He gave us seven good years. Anybody that doesn't think his presence on this team WITH Rubio and Mitchell and Gobert and Ingles would've made us better is an emotionally-challenged fool.

I tend to agree. It would have been interesting to see if the locker room would have been the same, however. He doesn't seem like he would have fit in the same way that all of the guys this year appear to have done.

Why not? We have quiet guys on our team. He never wanted to be THE star, and he was the reason we got Rubio.

Funny thing is, I remember hearing about the Rubio trade a day or two before Gordon's decision and thought they must have come to an understanding, since getting Ricky was his idea. That gave his leaving a little extra sting, I admit.

Frankly, the kind of player we could use on this team is someone like Gordon, who can shine but is ready and willing to be a second option. I miss his chase down blocks. He was our best post player, other than JJ, and that's something we need right now. He was yet another threat from long range.

I expect that next year's Celtics will be pretty badass with him and Kyrie back with a young, extremely talented roster. However, I think he would have enjoyed great success with us if he'd stayed.

Right now our best players all seem to have fun together, which I believe has affected their playing together as well. I have a hard time believing Gordon would have fit into that very well. But you might be right, perhaps he wouldn't have affected the camaraderie of the team since he wouldn't have the leadership role he was supposed to assume in the past.

Why do people try so hard to get added to my you're stupid list?

First off, the idea that another good player will stunt someone else's growth is a ****ing Bigfoot level myth. Go **** in the woods.

Second, Hayward defers, a lot. He would have created an *** ton of assists for DM diving cross court behind his position and DM would rack up dunks.

Shut up with the stupid *** stunted growth ********. There's no proof of it outside of dumb *** fans who have never played organized basketball.

Gordon will not be in Boston long. Danny Ainge doesn't give a blue **** about Hayward's love affair with his Paterfamilias. . .he only cares about being the best in the east, and the only way to be the best in the east (as he will surely comprehend once LeBron donkey kicks them out of the next round), is to add Mr. Kawhi Leonard. Gordon will soon be yet another nameless cog in the San Antonio machine.

Watching them play last night and thought... Gordon will be their third best wing and have two guys trying to establish their value in the league... guys that are trying to make their first AS team.

Then you have the teacher pet syndrome with Brad... if those guys think Gordon is getting more touches or PT because of that relationship that could be a problem.

Then you have Kyrie who will be taking touches from all three guys...
There is a legit chance that Boston trades Gordon imo. Either that or he averages like 15-16 pts a game... he will share 3rd scorer responsibilities with Brown... maybe Horford too.

He may be cool with the Klay or Iggy role but that sure didn’t seem like what he was signing up for... eventually I think it cost him some money too.

Anywell eff him... he didn’t want to be here.

What a mean-spirited dork you are, Franklin. Sure, a player like Hayward would be a big asset, but that's not after the fact of what he did to the Jazz. Why do you have to be so bleepin' mean just to disagree?

Brown and Tatum look legit and both shoot the 3 very well. Tatum would be in the ROY discussion if he was put in a DM type role. He was in the discussion earlier.

Boston could easily package redundant Haywood and/or one of those plus one of the plethora of entangled first rounders they own for a disgruntled Kawhi.

Ainge has built a championship foundation that might become a dynasty if he can turn his remaining pawns into queens. They are easily the best large market destination for any big name free agent looking to sign and trade. They will have to go into LT and pay repeater tax but i think they can afford it and are willing to.

Exactly what I'm saying... if there is a Kawhi trade I think it is for Gordon, Rozier and picks... or Kyrie, Brown, and picks. If you are Boston which would you rather do? Clearly Gordon Rozier and picks right?

Even putting his name in trade rumors might be enough to lose him mentally... the success of the Baby Celtics could be a problem for G-Time.

I'd sell Gordon and all the picks for Kawhi if he agreed to a contract renegotiation, which would mean a supermax 5 year deal for him. That team would have 4-5 all star candidates and would make the soon to be blown up "greatest team ever assembled" look like rodents.

Kyrie
Brown
Kawhi/Tatum 3-4
Horrors

Bench of Smart, Morris, and whoever vets want to win a ring ala the Spurs model.... Ainge for GM of the decade.

He can’t get mega supermax unless it is with SA. Could get max but I think he could only do 4 years unless he waited 6 months... there is a rule there but yeah they should do it.

It's up to the coach to get talented players on his team to mesh and play together. The fact that Heywood had brains up the kazoo would mean they could have meshed and contributed to further winning scores and winning games! You just can't have too many guys on your team with high basketball IQ's....and Heywood would certainly have done that!
