Lockout and Draft Questions

What happens if the whole '11-'12 season is locked out? Will there still be a draft? How would the draft order work? Is it possible the lockout could last longer than a year?

LMGTFY, Archie!

We've heard stories of mirroring what the NHL did. Also heard everyone will be 'even' with an equal number of ping pong balls. I'm seeing the NHL as the most likely scenario. And, yes, feel free to Google that, lol.

I think the NHL-system that is a little more weighted for recent success makes the most sense (four balls instead of three with the extra ball being strictly representative of the last season played). I swear that thought isn't homer-driven.

how about an auction? that would becool...2.5 million a year at once...,2.5 million a year at twice, sold it to the GM at the left corner.

No link, but have heard some recent rumblings that the lockout will end sooner than most are anticipating. Sorry to be vague, but all I'll say is it's a decent source.

If there is no season, why not just cancel the draft? I'd be all for this. There's been talks of increasing the age limit for a while now, so if they're going to do it, I say do it now and push back all the traded draft picks by one year. So the Jazz would now own GS's 2013 1st rounder.

They're not going to cancel the draft, there is an entire class of basketball players waiting to come out. And then you think they're going to combine them with the next year? Everybody will tank.

Plus, they're going to miss out on the revenue the draft creates? No.

NHL system is most likely, and that also means the Cavs are going to be rebuilt pretty ****ing fast.

Name me one senior that a team would tank for.

I'm just saying if there isn't a season and a new CBA comes out before the 2012 draft changing the age limit requirements, I'd be totally fine with them canceling the draft. The other scenario would be they change the rule, have the draft, and we miss out on the stud freshman class that's coming.

Do you know David Stern? Why is a guy as connected as you slimming around on Jazz message board?
