What's new

Nets @ Jazz (7PM MST)

I wouldn't say all Australians, as plenty are reasons and we just have a sizable contigent of loud morons, and I would also say that the Exum fan-boys aren't limited to just Australians, but I think this overall point goes completely unnoticed and there's absolutely no self-awareness. Mudiay is averaging 10 points per game. He's averaging a shade over 20 pp36. Shooting 50% from the floor. If Exum had been doing what Mudiay is, not only would people be ecstatic, they'd be declaring the 5 years of waiting as being completely vindicated, the haters completely silenced, and the proof of Exum being everything everyone said he would be. They'd be so excited they'd be looking to snort some blow off the first *** cheek they could find.

He reminds me of AB, takes a lot of low percentage shots and makes them. He's more aggressive than AB too, whats his value when he stops making shots?

If last night’s performance is what you’ve been seeing in earlier performances, then you’ve been right. Again. But I’ll maintain that last night was qualitatively different from other performances. I like that version much better.
I didn’t see last nights game... might go watch the Mudiay highlights.

I know the ball sticks to his hands and he has his flaws but he’s been effective. I think he can improve but has a bbIQ ceiling. Bench gunner/creator could suit him well.

I think you’ll see he got to better spots and made better reads.

His shots aren’t low percentage though... he works to get clean looks in spots he’s good... he reminds me more of Shaun Livingston but with more juice off the drive and less passing ability. Taking smaller guards into the lane and getting clean 8-10 foot shots works off the bench... AB’s tough drives to nowhere were a problem.

I've got some concerns. He's a good option when nothing on the bench is going. I don't like the combo of him and Joe, mostly because the idea of using Joe off the bench is to run the offense more, but he dominates the ball. I want Joe starting. Anyway, thus far he's been hitting shots and playing well, so I won't complain, but hopefully when those don't fall he's self-aware. Right now him making shots is compensating for taking other guys out of rhythm.

Im still not sold on Mudiay, ball sticks in his hands. Not the basketball we play or i like to watch.

I get this but the older I’ve moved on from the beautiful basketball stuff to just whatever the hell works and right now what he’s doing works. If he stops making shots the. We have to do something else I guess. Sometimes I think our offense gets too cute and having Jeff Green or Mudiay in there to say “eff it I’m shooting” works.... at least at a league average rate.

He's had a positive +- in every game he's played this year. If people are out of rhythm I'm not sure he's the one to blame.

I think that's the part we all hope can improve. If it does improve he could be really good. But even if it doesn't, it seems like there are times where we just need someone who can be agressive and get a basket.

If he stops making shots then no biggie. He is a back up point guard. They typically aren't that good. Or they would start.

If he goes cold you simply put him back on the bench and bring Conley in or go with Donovan or Ingles to run the offense. Or X when he is healthy.

I think he has value on the defensive end though too

If he’s dominating the ball on that many possessions then he better be playing at league average or slightly better. So, actually, he needs to be “that good.”

Or just bench him. Can't dominate the ball from the bench.

True, but the bench needs playable players. Pretty badly.

I think the jazz can overcome their inabilities on the offensive glass and eventually I think they’ll produce fewer live-ball turnovers—which are two of the greatest weaknesses right now. But even if they do this, they’ll need much more consistent production from the bench if theyre going to reach their ceiling. And the options for achieving this can be counted on one hand. Mudiay sorta needs to be playable or they’re gonna need to shop for different pieces.

Good post.
Would be nice if Exum could become a playable player. I won't hold my breath though

The most talked about player on this forum is a player that isn't playing. Surely you people have another player to talk about.

Your posting history suggests otherwise. Why don’t you lead the charge, or would that essentially be synonymous with a self-ban?
