New Dennis Lindsey Interview

Not in a Westbrook kinda way ..

well.. unless you can't see the subtle difference........ which I can totally understand.

The Spurs love Parker cause he can create his own offense and because he believes that he can create his own offense. With the current players under contract only one has shown that ability and that is Burks.

Burks has the same belief.. it's just that he can't quite match it with actual ability (yet).

My feeling about Burks is not so much about his ability as it is about the Jazz having no other trade able assets. Jazz have decided he is a tweener. His most logical position is sg but somehow the 6-8 Hayward is now the Jazz sg/sf tweener. Burks has more value to another team than to the Jazz who see him as a bench player.

In praising the youth Lindsey almost never mentions Burks, Lindsey 'hates' the phrase Core Four. Also with a team full of expiring contracts there were two rumours at the trade deadline--and one of them was Burks for a 1 yr rental of Luke Ridinour.

Posturing and confidence are not the same.

The Spurs' stars seem interested only in getting the job done. They're all smart, tough, confident and extremely competitive team basketball players. Obviously, that's the type of player the Jazz should be looking for.

Further, look at past champions, and look at the good regular season teams that have faltered. All the posturing and individual brilliance in the world isn't going to get you a ring. With few exceptions, the smartest, most competitive basketball TEAMS win in the end.

A little C4 perspective: Durante-Westbrook-Harden-Ibaka. That team hasn't been able to get it done tells me the Jazz are nowhere near a core 2. For starters, Burks isn't even in the sixth, seventh or eighth man conversation, let alone "core".

I can't wait for the Jazz to suck *** next season. It'll be soooo much fun remembering how we could have Harden.

Where did that rumor come from? The Jazz camp said there were never any deals that came close to being completed. So I doubt it was Utah that wanted to "dump" Burks. In any case, good 6th men are often the 4th most valuable pieces on a roster (or even higher). Did the Spurs ever want to dump Ginobli because he wasn't a starter? I think the Jazz could very well use Burks as a combo guard - if he continues to improve - giving him 30 mins behind Hayward and a PG TBD. I would have said Mo, but I don't think it's a lock he returns. He was a HUGE disappointment, even when healthy. The point is, we don't know because our INCOMPETENT coach had Alec riding the pines behind our two all-star back-up PG's named Watson and Tinsley.

We haven't seen enough of Burks to know what kind of player he is going to be. We need four players to cover pg and sg and the only sure player we have is Hayward as a sometimes sg. Burks has shown that he is good enough to at least play backup at either guard position, so, in my opinion, that makes him a keeper until we find three more players who are better than him at guard.
