What's new

NFL 12/13 Survivor League

I'm going out on a limb with the Vikings. They're typically very strong at home, have a good, if not very good, defense and Jax sucks.

I thought about that pick as well but I didn't want to get too crazy in week 1. That and I really wanted to pick my team (Bears) and feel confident about it and this might be the only game close to a guaranteed win on our schedule.

Desperately wanted to take Minny and get them off the board. But had to go safe in week one with Houston. Now watch Tannehill wreck my whole theory.

This, also as a plus since I'm a Phins fan if they somehow actually won it would neutralize the sting of getting knocked out in week one.

As a side note my initial instinct/choice was to go with the Eagles over the Browns.

Do the Birds. Ignore Brown Notes as he thinks with his heart. The Brownies will unquestionably be one of the five or six worst teams in the league and are going to get slaughtered.

I think that was my pick. My whole strategy will probably consist of picking popular picks.
That works for about 8 games, then you start running into problems when you've already used up the best teams.

I generally take a few more chances early on and pick some mid-level teams IF they're at home against dogs. Worked for me last time, although I had two very close calls. What's funny is that I'm a 49'er fan but didn't pick them in any games last season. Bit superstitious, I guess. And I didn't want to be mad at "my team" if they eliminated me from the survivor game.

We'll see what happens this year. I played it very safe this week (Houston over Miami).

EDIT: Looks like there were 24 signed up and we're now down to 22. I can understand picking New Orleans over Washington. But JJ Rage choosing Seattle - ON THE ROAD - over Arizona? Guess he must be a big USC/Pete Carroll fan. Sorry, JJR.

This is my strategy this year. That's why I took Detroit in week 1.

I went over the survivor game to see if I was still alive and found out, looking at my profile, that back in 2005 I won a fantasy football league. Didn't get any rewards for it though... Let's see if I can get the JazzFanzz survivor league also(I highly doubt it) LOL

So I'm going the cowards way and picking the Pats this week. My strategy tends to be picking a few "can't miss" teams the first three weeks until I get a feel of how the season goes. Though that can bite me come October or November (if I make it that far).

Going with the Giants this week based on them having a mini bye week and being pissed off about losing the opener.
