Official: Fire Dennis Lindsey thread

This is the biggest problem I have with Lindsay. It's not really an issue, because I loved the trey pick, but I wish he would have stuck with his draft philosophy and drafted long athletic potential. We would probably have Hood, Exum, Gobert, and Giannis at this point.

Whatever though, I can't blame him because I fully supported the picks he made at the time.
He was essentially an assistant GM at that point. I thought his words made it pretty obvious that he was not able to make the choice he wanted to make. Pretty much everyone loved that pick at the time it was made... except Lindsey.

If DL was trying to win a short-term popularity contest, then he might have been thinking about it the way you suggest.

If he was trying to win a contest that builds a long-term contender, perhaps he was thinking about it differently.

Like him or hate him, DL seems to be a long-tern strategic thinker, don't you think?
So wait, what is your point and what do you think happened?

It's almost like the dude knows what he is doing.

The pick pretty much sealed Corbin's fate. And I'll bet DL has a little more power because he was against taking Trey and he was right. In the end, the team is better off. Had Trey come in and have been the answer at PG, 1) the subsequent year's pick would have been lower (more wins with a better PG); 2) we'd likely still have Corbin (more wins and he would have gotten credit for wanting Trey).

We'd also still have Millsap and Jefferson as well.

He was but I didn't like how he pinned it on Corbin. Even if it was Corbin's pull that made them pick Burke. DL is the GM so he needs to own the pick. IMO
