Right. So, the round peg doesn't fit the square hole.

The square peg is 14.14 inches from corner to opposite corner (sqrt(200)), and doesn't fit the round hole.

This isn't rocket science, Cy.

Clearly.

Are you illiterate, innumerate, or are you just too lazy to actually read the content in that link.

And, just to generalize (I don't have a formal proof), the only hole that a peg of the same area will fit into is one with identical dimensions.
Idk but you seem mad.

Per Locke's emptying the noggin:

- Jazz practice tomorrow than head to Hawaii.

- Snyder praised Millsap and was pleased with his decision making.

- Hayward and Favors continue to look really good in camp.

- Snyder wants team depth and ability to play big and small, fast and slow

- Jazz staff is pushing Gobert on "a high level of precision" and to pay attention to details as that's his next step.

Great, great **** here.

SA is Leonard, but much less obvious. And it's always been that way in SA, even when Duncan was younger. There were many years you could say SA wanted the ball in the hands of Parker or Ginobili to end possessions.

I'd love to see the Jazz emulate SA. Their leading scorer (regular season) the past two years has been at 17 pts/per. Last year no one averaged 30 mins. This season only Kawhi did at just under 32. I think Utah has the depth to be a similar type team.

I disagree. it's Duncan. Scoring doesn't matter. Everything runs through him.

Uh...You may want to take a remedial geometry class. Assuming size = area of round/square side of peg, neither a round peg in a square hole nor a square peg in a round hole works.

I think the dimwit meant width for a square and diameter for a circle. At least that's what I thought he meant.

Non-Jazz related, but don't feel like starting a General NBA Pre-Season thread, Mudiay looks like he has a lot of talent. Looked foolish most of the night against CP3, as most rookies do, but made several impressive passes and his shot looked pretty good. Once he learns how to draw contact and finish around the rim he could be an All-Star.

The idiom is not generally used to convey the idea that a peg of one shape doesn't fit through a hole of another shape - as a small enough square peg will fit through a round hole, and a large enough round peg won't fit through a square hole - but rather that a peg of one shape isn't a good fit for a hole of another shape. Ironically, this is made abundantly clear in the wikipedia article cited by Cy (who apparently doesn't actually read his links, as both provided in this thread destroy his argument). This is also exactly what stoked was trying to communicate, even if he didn't use the same, completely arbitrary shapes generally used in the expression.

I enjoy correcting people who combine ignorance, arrogance, condescension and pedantry.

Also, size=width is ****ing dumb; maybe you should join Cy in that geometry class.
