Point Guard Contingency Plan - Summer of 2017

Ty Lawson has some serious explaining to do ... because officials in Denver believe the Sacramento Kings star violated his probation and are gunning for a warrant, TMZ Sports has learned.

Lawson is currently on probation stemming from his 2015 drunk driving case in Denver -- but the Denver Probation Dept. has filed a complaint seeking to revoke his probation citing a potential violation.

Officials would not say what the alleged violation is ... but confirmed to TMZ Sports that a bench warrant has been requested so they can bring Lawson to court for a hearing on the matter.

We're told a judge has not signed off on the warrant at this point.

Some of the requirements of Lawson's probation -- which was scheduled to end on March 22 -- included monitored sobriety, 48 hours of community service, 52 hours of therapy and no marijuana use.

OK but which of those has he violated?

Maybe they could trade for Schroder if somehow things sour in ATL? The price wont be cheap, multiple/future picks would be involved and ATL will want Exum which isn't an option. ATL would need a major PG contingency plan themselves...

Turns 24 at the start of next season, fits right in with the core. His deal is CHEAP and he applies tons of pressure defensively, he's much faster than Hill and more of a natural PG.

I dont think his attitude would be much of an issue here, I think he'd fall in line. His scrappy hungry style of play is a great fit for this team moving forward and he's shooting 35% from 3.

Low probability this happens, figured it's worth mentioning tho. It'd be a game-changing trade no doubt. The team would look different with that type of speed at the helm, even playing this slow-ball style..

LOL. With the uncertanty revolving around the PG's the last few years it's impossible for me not to think of what if they made some sound long-term fixes back then, when the cupboard was barren at PG.. Simple moves, just a legit rotation player would've done a world of good.

Now they're still stepping up to the plate trying to hit home runs, all these years and lottery picks later..

Should've given Quinn Cook a shot!

Coach Budenholzer sat Schroeder a whole quarter or something like that the previous game because Schroeder was seen having a shouting match with Dwight.

Not sure that's the kind of behaviour the Jazz would tolerate.

Remember that we had a chance to get him in the draft while DL was at the helm too but traded up to get Burke.

Dennis also outscored the entire Warriors starting lineup in the first quarter of that game 19 points in 9 minutes and 9 FGA's..

That 'attitude' the only reason why MAYBE he's available. If I'm running the Hawks I'd can the coach and a majority of the excess fat on the roster before I moved Schroder...

From what I've seen DL (and the Jazz) would rather choose a lesser player but with good character over a superior player but with questionable character.

So you think the Jazz methodically avoid "superior players"? Interesting theory. How sanctimonious!! not surprised tho, If true I'd even go as far as saying that type of snootiness probably has been been absorbed from the fans(the hive-mind I've been posting about for years) like basic market-research.

It's certainly not in the teams best competitive interests though. We can all agree on that. If true, to claim the Jazz hunt for the BPA is a mischaracterization and blatant lie... I can understand red-flagging individuals but not for trivial 'character concerns'.

That flare up with Schroder was a manifestation of him being frustrated but ultimately because he wants to win. In a much healthier, balanced squad like Utah has he'd be able to just be a star in his role rather than the ball of lightning ATL needs him to be everytime he steps on the floor.

We'll see how it works for them.

Bruce Brown could be a jackpot scenario draftpick for the Jazz in the 20's, he's not a pure PG by any stretch but he's built like a starting NBA PG at 6'3" with long arms, legit explosion and a strong build and he can shoot, he also displays a lot of the leadership qualities you'd hope to see from a PG. Blue-collar type attitude too. Had a triple double earlier this year. He's old for a Fr. but it doesn't matter.

Problem is DX has him projected in the lottery of 2018, his value might be skyrocketing past the Jazz range, especially if he can orchestrate a strong close to Miami's.

He might be gaining hype with scouts just because 'he gets it', and especially off the bench he can provide a few things. Legit upside too.

Lol, we are not fixing our PG situation with a draft pick. No draft pick is doing to help out for the next couple years. No draft pick is replacing Hill's veteran leadership role that we need. We already have Exum we are developing.

Dante. Exum.

Time to take the training wheels off of him.

We just saw this lineup where Burks is defending Westbrook next to Exum.. The Jazz are in a position to put another development project into the mix if Hill walks.

Or a player like Patty Mills..

Exum's transitioned from project to solid rotation player. Been saying this all year. they should've jsut had him and the team take their lumps with him starting tbpfh and kept the lottery pick..

I have a strong suspicion there is a certain amount of money they won't go over to sign Hill (i.e., around $20m?).

If that plan fails they should look at Mills or Collison, and have them back up Exum.
