Power Rankings

I'm calling it right now. This is the season Hayward finally gets recognized as a star.

1. GS - but Green starts causing problems now that he's the 4th option.
2. Cavs
3. Spurs
4. Jazz. DL gets GM award. Quin gets COY. Johnson might get 6th man.Gobert could get DPOY.

YES!!! That's the spirit Stifle Tower!!!! Drink that Kool aide down!!! CHOO CHOO!!!

Only hold outs now are franklin and LogGrad98 ;)

Our defense will already be more than enough.

I love both Hood and Bradley so I don't think there is a right or wrong answer here. Room for opinion for sure.

Our defense will be fine without Bradley, but it would clearly be better with him. If that gets you 1-2 point per game, I'd take it, as I don't think there is a net difference on the offensive end.

There's more than that. Skankhunt42 thinks the rebuild has been botched and I don't think GVC is a believer yet. Probably a few more I'm forgetting. Maybe Hack and that troll from Colorado, but not sure he even counts as a fan.

He doesn't. Also the others suck. I'm looking at you Skank

Maybe it was. But DL was man enough to admit (by his actions) that he blew some picks and that the training staff can't squeeze diamonds out of cubic zirconia. He's FINALLY jettisoned players like Burke, Elijah, etc. and brought in talented vets. Still maintain he could have/should have done this 2 years ago. It wouldn't have stunted the growth of the youngsters. On the contrary, we've heard nothing but how much Hill, JJ and Boris are teaching their young Jedi.

But Millers must have needed some extra spending cash, so DL skimped for a couple of years. Now (and maybe because of Hayward's opt out), DL has gone out and spent $ to put a winning team on the floor.

Holdouts? Nah, this season will be awesome if they stay healthy (doubtful), and don't trade Hayward for peanuts (even more doubtful). We may get a few good seasons in before they blow this thing up and prove what a waste the last 6 years plus this season have been.

Have fun getting STOKED then.

Always easier to be a cynic when you hold your ego in too high regard. But eh, some hold outs are extremely smart and shockingly believe the Jazz haven't done enough to warrant the hype.

Oh I will be. No worries.

Go back and watch the rest of the season after the Kanter trade. You know, before injuries set us back a year. I don't see how ignoring injuries and choosing to believe management sucks is smart, let alone extremely smart. Smart fans have every reason to buy into the hype.

Also, to O>D, there have been numerous articles written over the last several weeks that have been very favorable to Utah's position. Most of that has been attributed to Utah having a good offseason, but IMO it has just as much to do with the fact that, unlike many Jazz fans, the people who cover the NBA for a living haven't forgotten about how the team was playing after the Kanter trade and before multiple injuries handicapped our season. It's not just Jazz fans buying into the hype with this team.

A few thoughts here: First, go back to the season after Kanter was traded. The team was turning a corner and our FO was being praised league wide for the team they were putting together. At that point, most of the naysayers around here kind of just disappeared and kept a low profile, as the future of the team was looking as bright as any up and coming team in the league.

Next, Exum goes down and then Utah has to deal with both Rudy and Favors missing significant time, not to mention AB again. At that point, anyone blaming the FO for our problems just had a completely unrealistic idea of how things work. Now, there's no doubt that some things could have been done differently. I, for one, have been very frustrated at how long it took to move Treyd Burke. However, I also understand the concern of dumping him and then having him breakout. His trade value was never really high enough to justify moving him instead of giving him every opportunity to develop.

As for the comments about the millers, they lose money by not making the playoffs. I'm sure they would have been tickled to have had the chance to go all in a year or two ago, had the right opportunity presented itself. Rebuilds take time and impatience is a great way to build a team that never gets past the 1st round. Sometimes it seems like fans look at rebuilding as if GMs can just pick players like ordering off a menu in a restaurant. If only it were that simple.

Having said that, the whole cake baking thing was always a half truth. No doubt in my mind, had the right opportunity come along a year or 2 ago, DL would have gone for it and hoped for the best.

Either way, we now have players like Lyles and Hill that probably wouldn't be here if things hadn't happened the way they did. So the result of taking an extra year or two is that now we have a couple extra rounds in the chamber we wouldn't have otherwise.

This team has a great chance of going deep in the playoffs over the next few years. If/when that happens, fans might just be glad it took an extra year or two to build the team even stronger.

Cappy killing it

I agree 100% with you, but it makes you wonder what someone like Franklin is thinking. Not sure if he really believes what he says or is just trolling. Most likely just trolling.

I'm drinking the Kool Aid but you might be hammered because of the Kool Aid.

Love the optimism though.

Side note to all the All Star talk, doesn't Joe Johnson have more All Star appearances than every current Celtics combined?

It's how he rolls

The best part is how franklin does this. He does it in a way that most people have a hard time debating against.
