No, I don't know that's what you're saying. That's why I asked that question. How would you react to that situation?

It's never happened quite like that so I'm unsure, but hypothetically speaking, I would probably be very guarded, would listen, pray about it, and speak with my child, albeit cautiously.

So I was right except the part about inviting him in. You'd maybe just step out on the porch and have a conversation. I think that's weird but it's not like LDS don't do stuff that's hard to grasp.

Weird all weird .. I mean peculiar. Have a good day Conan, you seem alright. :)

Have a good day Conan, you seem alright. :) I totally mean this in a sincere honest way, like I am so so sorry if this came across the wrong way, I assure you that I meant it in sincerity, and I will have no part in an ugly heated religious debate. Im sorry. Did I mention that Im sorry?

Fixed.

Again, my opinion.

God is a God of order.
12 million, or 6 billion people all receiving global revelation for the whole world?
Too many chiefs, not enough Indians.

There needs to be order. Why did Christ call 12 Apostles when he was alive?
Why did we even have the Patriarch's of old?
Why did Abraham pay his tithes to Melchizedek?
Why would God command his people to build Temples?
Why would God give the 10 Commandments to Moses and have him pass them on if he could just give them to every Israelite?
Why would God send Jonas to Nineveh if he could just tell them all himself?
Why would God command Abraham to sacrifice Isaac as an offering, then change it at the last second?
Why would God only tell Noah there was a flood coming, when he could tell everyone?

There is a reason we are here, and there are things we need to learn and do while alive if possible.
There is a order to this life, and there is a order to God's church, and plan.

This life is not randomness. There is purpose, a plan, and there is order to it. The proper order will help us.

I challenge you to take on a large project.... say a Boy Scout Camp, and tell all the boys the purpose of the scout camp, and tell them the things that need to get done while they are there... then tell them they are all in charge.
Not much of the plan will happen.
If there are Boy Scout leaders that help remind about the plan, that help to organize and have order to what needs to happen and when, and remind the boys often of what is coming up..... the purpose of the scout camp is more likely to be achieved than if the boys are left to fend for themselves.

I'm not sure that's a perfect example, but it's all I have right now.

I just can't fathom the idea of clergy catering to the revelation of the layfolks. Again, the idea of someone receiving revelation for something outside their purview. Recipe for a mess.

I'm not God.
What good is all this order if those that are chosen abuse power and give poor advice (those few bad individuals, not the majority)?

I'm not debating, though, just curious.

I never said clergy catering to layfolk, that's hyperbole. I am suggesting that God can do as He pleases, regardless of our perception of the way we think He should do it.
