Raja Bell details Jerry Sloan/Deron Williams breakup with Jazz

Listen, I was a fan of Deron....but for all you “team Deron” people he also went threw 2 more coaches in Brooklyn while blaming everyone but himself. The dude became arrogant and self diluted. It was time for Sloan to retire sure, but Deron was a handful during this time, and that became clear when 2 more coaches were shown the door in Brooklyn.

Deron was never the same once he left here. His attitude was different, he had let his body go, and you could tell he certainly didn’t enjoy basketball anymore. Even Deron has reflected and said he had some growing up to do.

I will say in D-Wills defense he was honest while he was here. For guys we wonder about being fake it appears Deron was always truthful. He did enjoy playing here and was more involved with the community while here than the guy that left last summer. Following him on Instagram he’s back in Utah pretty often Skiing, golfing, or doing his fighting podcast. He’s one guy you can actually look at and see he was truthful when he said he enjoyed being here. His attitude just changed, and that was mainly due to where the team was headed, but his attitude never got better and his career was essentially never the same after this trade.

Jerry was never that patient but as he aged I am sure it became a bigger issue. Deron is just as stubborn and was a cocky young player who probably was harboring some resent because he "earn" his starting position. It takes two to fight and there is blame on both sides. I agree both had to go and both deserve criticism.
This is old news and just think it helped shape the Jazz we have today.

You guys are disrespecting Jerry Sloan and that's unacceptable. Deron Williams was unprofessional end of story. It is a damn shame Sloan had to leave the way he did. That should go down as one of the worst Jazz moves in history because it is unlike how we usually work and treat people.

No one is disrespecting Sloan but to think he is completely innocent in the situation is homerism. Jerry was a great coach but he was flawed as a coach and person (like all people). For years, Jerry had absolute power and clashed with several players, Malone, Curry, Blue Edwards, Ostertag, AK etc. So it isn't like DW was the only guy who got on his wrong side. Both people had fault in it not working out, so both deserve criticism. It is not disrespectful to point that out.

True I wouldn’t change a thing, I’m happy where it led us.

People forget that Phil Johnson also resigned as a show of loyalty to Sloan. Phil won NBA coach of the year with the Kings and turned his back on millions of dollars by walking away. That left us with Ty as head coach.

Deron's always been a whiny little bitch, I always felt as if Sloan should've retired a couple years before, and Raja is breaking code here.

Lol. The Deron Williams who wasn't **** after he left Utah? Just like Sharon Anderson. And others? I'm sure Sloan was as much to blame. But he demanded a lot out of his players. And it showed when they played for Utah. And why it didn't when they left. Deron wasn't **** outside of Utah. The system made him.

Completely incorrect. Deron was an all star with the Nets and played well when he was healthy. Injuries derailed his career. They started appearing near the end of his time with the Jazz and never really went away.
