The Rockies have agreed to trade ace pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez, who has thrown the only no-hitter in club history and was the first Colorado pitcher to start an All-Star Game, to the Cleveland Indians for four prospects, although the deal for one -- pitching prospect Drew Pomeranz -- cannot become official until next month.
The Rockies will immediately receive pitchers Alex White and Joe Gardner, and first baseman-outfielder Matt McBride. Pomeranz cannot be traded until next month because he was signed last August, and Major League Baseball rules say a player cannot be traded until one year into his professional career.
I just don't get this deal, Ubaldo is the best pitcher Colorado has ever had and they trade him away for unproven prospects. He's also got a bargain of a contract so that wasn't an issue and from what I hear is a good person off the field. Any rockies fans thoughts on the deal?
