Saint Cy's Incredible Knowledge and Wisdom: Jazz Must Acquire Kyle Filipowski in the 2024 Draft

I absolutely love Filipowski. I like his fire, competitiveness, and doesn't shy away from toughness. My only little compliant about him is, he likes whine and argue about every call that doesn't go his way. It takes his focus and momentum outta his game when he does that, I've noticed.

Extremely curios how Kyle develops. I think I have no doubt he can be a starter level player on offense as a big. Defense I think he will always be a tweener but its not an impossible fit. I still want to see him utilize his defensive playmaking more like he did in college. He had very good hands/anticipation and got a lot of steals/deflections/below the shoulder blocks. I think you will always want rim protection and good defenders around him but if he can grow on that end he can be more than an elite 3rd big type.

Can he be like 85% of what Lauri is? More? I think his passing and dribbling is clearly better. Lauri is a better shooter and athlete... and was a good defender one year. Its interesting.

And how many loser laps is he doing on Hood-Schifino, THT, Sexton, etc, etc, etc?

I lose count!!!!

LOL!!!
Why am I getting attached to Sexton? Y'all don't even remember my worst takes. You just get so hung up on JHS.

Like no one wants to clown me for having Pacome Dadiet like 5th overall last year?

Lmao yeah I was getting annoyed by his drives where he just threw his hands in the air expecting a call then he would mini sulk for a second afterwards

Flip was a second round pick and Cy saw it months in advance. This is a well deserved victory lap.
I'll allow it

My expectation is that real NBA players will look out of place, in a good way, by their second year in the Summer League, but is there any data to back that up?

I did a semi deep dive on rookie performance in summer league compared to rookie performance in their first year which basically showed that there is a slight correlation, but lots of examples of it not meaning much.

I'll see what I can figure out on second year players.

I remember Trey Lykes dominating Vegas in year 2. He turned out to be a long term NBA player though not a particularly impressive one.

Kessler belongs in the G-league was a good one.

Last year post-ASB Flip compared to 3 of the top 4 picks in the draft (excluding Reed Sheppard who only played in garbage time and not well)

Man I listened to Vecenie absolutely gush about Reed after his first SL game then I watched his next game and didn't see the hype.

Hilarious timing with this but a draft guy on Twitter hit me up asking if I know Cy. I said yes and he said he had the second best overall big board in 2020 out of the 66 that were submitted to him.

@Saint Cy of JFC he wants to know if he can use your Twitter handle and name to publish the results.

I don't think I have a registered Twitter account anymore, but it was BallisLife_Cy, but sure

Toss up between flip and castle.

Honestly my only lasting memory of my 2020 takes is that I loved Jalen Harris. He had a really good end to his rookie seesom after being the 59th then he got kicked out of the NBA for drugs. Now he's a journey man overseas player who bounces from team to team, league to league each season.
