What's new

Some props for DL from SI - NBA free agency: Winners and losers

I'll be here. 45% on threes, 50% FG, 88% FT on high volume shooting, with defenses focusing solely on him. That's rare. And highly translatable.

Have you been following him in the SL thus far?

Yeah, that is why I think a guy like Russell would have been really good in this current era of role players who are allowed to jack up 3's. Imagine how valuable Russell would be if he shot 6 3's a game instead of 3. Same with Hornaceck. The funny thing is we had a team that could support a high volume of 3pt shots, at least in the starting lineup.
Those NBA Finals Jazz teams actually had a lot of good/decent 3 point shooters (3P% combined for the '97 & '98 seasons):
Stockton 42%
Hornacek 40%
Anderson 39%
Eisley 36%
Russell 38%
Greg Foster 33%
Chris Morris 29% (not very good percentage wise but he was like a JR Smith - very streaky)

Wow, I didn't realize Anderson's percentage was so high.

He took an extreme liberty presenting those stats.

Anderson shot 51% his rookie year from 3 on .7 attempts per game, then 21% the following year on .4 attempts, and 34% from 3 on .8 attempts in his final Utah year. In other words, he was probably a really bad 3pt shooter.
