Somebody explain Derrick Williams love to a Jazz Fan

I know Derrick Williams had an amazing year shooting percentage wise, but why do the jazz want a tweener?

D-Will2.0 is allegedly 6-8 and played power forward in college. Most of his highlights are dunks which mean very little in the NBA when your being guarded by 7 foot athletic studs. We had Boozer and we have Paul who are both undersized tweeners. They proved that tweeners cannot win playoff games against teams with two bigs.

Is everyone convinced that D-Will2.0 can play SF for the Jazz? I'm hoping Minnesota takes D-Will2.0 and leaves us Kanter. If Minnesota takes Kanter I'd probably take Knight instead of D-Will2.0. Can someone please explain why the jazz should take Williams?

You do realize that everyone in the draft is wondering if Williams can play the 3. Every work out he goes through is going to be built around if he can play the 3. If it doesn't look like he well excel at the 3 the I see Williams falling in this draft. But if he can play the 3 at 6-8 with is athletic ability and shooting range (over 50% last year in collage) then he could be the best player in the draft. Plus still giving teams the ability to play him at the 4. If his prime position is the 3 and he can excel at it then I would take him #1. If not then give me Kanter, or maybe even Knight

Because Williams is an explosive, fantastically gifted power sf, like Carmello or Paul Pierce, who could be a go-to scorer.

Since oldtimer doesn't like Williams, we have to get him now. I just hope he doesn't like ANY of the draft picks the Jazz make. We'd be in trouble at that point.

Very valid point. Rep'd for being correct. After the Bashing from the last pick that oldtimer did we definitely need to go against what ever direction he is taking :)

He is an exciting player that could possibly fill a need if he test out in the combine as being able to play SF. He is fearless and has heart. He is a player who gets better when the stage is bigger.

Kind of remind me of Lamar Odom a bit as well. I definitely can see him as a 3. Great dribble drive moves. Very Fluid. Great shooting ability- improved his shooting percentages from Fresh to Soph dramatically.

Only thing i wish he did better like Odom was passing ability, he's been described as a bit of black hole. His assists are really low.
