That’s just the thing. We don’t care what you buy. And we don’t accept the labels you wish to apply to people.

I’ll continue to “do me” and your opinion of that is irrelevant

Not that it matters, but you've always struck me as an independant who used to be more conservative, probably were a registered R at one point, and while your views have moderated you maintain a large amount of distrust in Democrats.

Am I close to the mark at all?
 
The thing I think is funny is that if Ford wanted to make this up and had all the evil magic of the Clinton's at her disposal she could have provided extremely specific details.

You can't give your villains superpowers (child sex trafficking rings in pizzarias, Vince Foster, Control over the FBI, etc.) and then suddenly act like they don't have superpowers, ala Ford can't say what house it was at. They could have datamined every party that happened that summer, figured out one where Ford and Kavanaugh were both at and BOOM! I mean if you want to believe in conspiracies you got to get in there and live in that world.

So to me, Ford not having all the answers is a sign of authenticity and integrity. How could anyone have all the answers? To demand them or else claim she's discredited is dishonest.

I am a registered Libertarian. Always have been. My politics are most closely aligned with 19th and 20th century Anarchists but that is just not an option. I tend to vote for both Republicans and Democrats(thems my choices most of the time) but not the Centrist variety.
 
For what it's worth, alt, I used to be up in the GD section spouting off all my objectivist beliefs. In many ways, philosophically, I am still essentially an objectivist. I just don't buy it as a serious philosophy, more of an ideology. I also gave up once I encountered contradictions I just couldn't answer, which for me was how to overcome coercion, which is pervasive in a multitude of forms in every aspect of our lives. Objectivism and especially the OPAR version of it, can not overcome that fatal flaw, imho.

But yeah, I'm a political fair weather fan. When Bush was in office I did a lot of apologizing for him. When it was Obama I did the same for him. With Trump, there are no redeeming qualities I can argue for. I am certainly rooting for the Ds this midterm. I also have moved left on issues like national healthcare. I have always been for essentially open borders (that's as libertarian a stance as there is). I used to be pretty hoorah U.S. military, but I feel we could do just fine with a highly focused and all-elite military force at least 2/3 smaller than what we currently have.

Even when I claimed to be an objectivist I always tried to point out that it was a philosophical position, not a realistic or utilitarian one. I never believed that objectivism fit our current reality and don't believe it can succeed if injected piecemeal into our current systems. It would take a fresh start for objectivism to have a chance, and that can't happen here.
