What's new

Take Shelter!....No, wait...sorry 'bout that!

Hahaha my uncle is in Hawaii right now. He said he wasn't stressed, figured right away it was a hoax because the public alarm systems weren't blaring.

Just a little pet peeve. In the Navy it was absolutely forbidden to ever say "This is not a drill."

I talked to my sister and her family who lives in Hawaii. It sounds like it was quite a panic for a lot of people. My niece was at work and they were evacuated to a parking garage underground. The highways were a mess with everyone scrambling to get home to family members.

They are lucky there were not serious injuries to people in full panic mode.

Crazy stuff - I just watched a documentary about the movie "Threads" (the long term impact of a nuclear attack on an English suburb) a couple days ago . I saw the movie like 25 years ago, easily the most disturbing movie I've ever seen and will never watch it again.

In high school I had to do a group report and we picked a nuclear attack as our subject. I think I was the only one who did any work on the project, but that was because once I started reading I couldn't stop. Nuclear bombs aren't just really big explosions, they have so many dimensions and so many ways to cause harm. I have been absolutely fascinated by nuclear weapons and nuclear power ever since. When I joined the Navy I was hoping to be a nuclear tech... I'm actually really happy that didn't work out. Missed it by 2% on a single test, basically 1 question.

I dream of an energy field that can disrupt the nuclear chain reaction. I'm not even close to educated enough to know if it's possible, but I feel like it may be. My fantasy was for the U.S. to develop such a thing and then instigate a nuclear war with China, wait for them to launch a nuclear attack, defeat the attack then retaliate. Then dominate the world. Ahh, to be 19 years old, dreaming of world domination.

lol only big governemnt statist aka lefties dream of world domination.
i dream of liberty

When I was 19 I had nationalistic ideals. Then I served in the U.S. military, saw people from different places around the world, and completely dropped those notions. I'm not 19 anymore. But silly generalizations about statists and all that, once again telling me that I'm something that I'm not, make you guys look dumb.

nah.

All is takes to look dumb is not understanding what others say.

you're always hiding under that same (oh no that's not what I am) rock, whatever anyone says, but hey.... whatever it takes, you be you. nobody else is gonna do that job for you.

BTW. when it comes to taking bows for statism, the fashion nowadays is to do it for a wonderful, idealistic dreamland run by professionals for the good of all mankind (or whateverkind). All you need to do is believe the honchos are all good.

I'm sure that for many, there is nothing in all that which should be taken as an either/or alternative to "liberty". That is, precisely, why we need social justice warriors stationed at hand next to anyone who might think the wrong things.... making the world safe for all the best ideas.....

"statist" must mean in some way that the person described believes some kind of state is worth having. Trump is a statists..... MAGA and all. probably me too. There are qualitative differences if you're particular about having voters who get to go to voting places and make fundamental decisions about what the guv can or cannot do. I prefer to apply the term to people who seem to have little concern for limiting government, but I bet you have some such concerns, and no I didn't exactly say you were a "statist". Dutch might be goading some folks on with his jokes, though.

bet you damn sure don't want Putin or Xi being your Pres, so don't assume Dutch is your enemy any more than me.

so don't assume Dutch is your enemy any more than me.

He already called a holy war upon me so i am his enemy.

maybe i should define statism!
to me statism is having a government that has more power than the people! yeha trump is a statist. but he is closer to being a none statist.

for example can i come into your house and start taking 10% of your ****. no!!!!!!!! so where does the government get that mandate from?
can i force you to buy something? so where does the government get the mandate from to FORCE you to buy something!

statism to me is the government has more power than the people! they can iniate force!

it is wrong for a citizen to initiate force against another, so the government should also not be able to initiate force.

it is ok to respond with force when someone initiates force against you. so the government should do the same.

maybe definitions are wrong.

That not the way "In Harm's Way" shows it. And hey, if John Wayne can be a hero, the show has to be true.
It's not the way a lot of movies show it. And maybe it was just something forbidden on my ship. But you DO announce when it is a drill and you don't ever say the word drill when it's not.

I’m really fond of post apocayptic scenarios. Threads was the best I have ever watched so far. I think it was mainly because of the way they showed it just like a documentary. And there was no mercy for a happy ending in that one. Plain cold hard facts of how screwed up the life on earth would be.

seems like same happeend to japan. i take back my conspiracy theory about it being fear mongering by lefties in the govenrment.

i think now it is north korean hackers.

The LaRouche folks are saying it's a desperate attempt to create public fear and irrationality, the conditions necessary to continue the coup against Trump. LaRouche geopolitgical interpretation aligns in some respects with some thinkers like Joel Skousen, on this point in particular. North Korea is there to be the spoiler and keep East and West on the brink of war. LaRoucheans believe it's a Brit strategy. Anti-communist right-wingers believe it's a pawn of Russia and China. Certainly, given the British involvement in manipulating against Chiang Kai-Shek and establishing China under communism, with key American support from some of the British-influenced American Establishment, the whole cold war era has been classic Brit geopolitical division and manipulation. It's only the LaRouche interpretation that actually comprehensively explains it. And it's the LaRouche version of history today that China's Xi and Russia's Putin acknowledge as the way their respective nations have been adversely manipulated by the West. Xi and Putin are rational actors, and I believe that while they will take any possible action to extend their power and influence, our own rational national interests require us to dump the pro-Brit insanity. Which is what Trump is all about.

A brief summary of how that all figures would run something like this. If you are a socialist of the FDR sort, who likes ordinary people and believes they should be educated along classical models and enabled to do higher reason and creative thinking, raising the technological capacity of the species generally, there is no one you would despise more than a Rockefeller, a Bill Gates (who was persuasively forced to join the anti-human cult of "progressives" who follow the British socialist educational views of a John Dewey or Horace Mann(Prussian reductionist/militarist) or the imperatives of today's common core imbecility), or a George Soros. These faux humans would reduce mankind to the worst slavery imaginable.

This false vision of "progress" reduces mankind to no rights at all. In order to get the power over us, it is necessary to run fear-mongering social reconstruction on the model that government is the benevolent trusted good guys who deserve our unquestioning and unthinking trust.

So, anyway, the LaRouche folks are generally pro-Catholic, anti-Brit. The LaRouche name is French. Helga-Zepp LaRouche is German. And no, they don't think the world's nations should be taken apart at the seams and molded in a seamless world-wide management plan.

I am actually British, just ashamed of the phony royalty and the stupid things they support. I am proud to be an American, still upholding British common law and all the rights of the Celts from the beginning of time.
