If the Jazz had a sweet-shooting big at the 4 like Lauri Markkanen it would change the Jazz's offense and spacing completely. It would mean that when a defense switches on the perimeter, the big can still shoot over the top or step in and pop from mid-range.

I dont think that's how you want to beat switching.

The whole point of switching is that it prevents those looks from happening or makes them extremely difficult.
 
Our missing pieces in the playoffs were:
Rubio and Thabo not playing;
Crowder's improvement after a Jazz off season;
O'Neale's development to become a Wesley Matthews; ;
Getting another player with Jazz DNA through this draft or free agency will just be a Bonus.

Why for Washington - if they did this trade before the draft, they avoid the luxury this year. That's massive for a team destined to be in the luxury in the coming years. Being in the luxury sucks. Being a repeat offender for a mediocre team can bring everything down. Sure, it hurts losing #17 a little, but the luxury savings this year and probably next is worth it. Maybe we throw in our 2nd (#52) and a future 2nd to ease the pain.

Why for us - this move might be the end of Favors or it might not. Either way, we know backup C is okay for next season should Favors go elsewhere. We could then concentrate on wing play. #17 is a nice little trade chip to combine with #21, flip for a future 1st or just select best player available.

You want to trade 2 better players for a #17 pick and a has been who would rarely see the floor?

and this might be all we really do.

with rubio and thabo its possible we win game 4 and or 5 against houston, and make it a seven game series. game 5 was ripe for the plucking if we didnt lose Donovan, and the aforementioned players.

i really wish we could have seen our full strength line up against Houston to better gauge where we are at. are we really that far off?

I expect Crowder to have an even better year next year. He struggled in Cleveland, and was a mixed bag for us. Definitely helped at times, and had some really good moments, but struggled a little too.

He's going to have a full off season to prepare for our offense, and get even more comfortable with the system.

It's a contract year.

He wants to be here.

All of these things add up for a recipe for success. I'm expecting a really good year from him.

Yeah you could tell by his exit interview he had a clear plan to work his arse off over the summer, hope he gets into a bit better shape, i'd like to see him finish strong at the cup more than look for the layup. Dunno if he has the athleticism to do it but i don't know if he was in the best shape when he arrived.
