Who is worth more, Bane or Lauri? Bane is cheaper by about $8 - $10 million per year. Lauri is a way more unique archetype.
Sadly I do think the $$ difference is more significant under the current CBA than it would have been in year's past.
I mean, the Magic should be great for a while. They dealt a bunch of picks in the 20s im sure is what they are thinking. The pick this year is probably the highest pick they will ever give to the Grizzlies.

Locks them into 2nd apron hell when Paolo gets his extension and while Bane is a very good player, I don't think he is quite what they need.

Orlando's core 4 is: Paolo, Franz, Suggs, Bane.
Think they will be a 2nd apron when Paolo gets the Max. If Paolo makes All-NBA and gets the Super Max then it's going to get insane money wise.

Jazz need to be there for when ORL blows it up. Ironically, they could be MEM 3-4 years down the road. I think their roster is fine (though Banchero is overrated) but most teams will fail when expectations are this high. ORL will start to feel the financial strain of being a contender soon.

I don't know. Lauri has zero postseason basketball experience, no one knows how he will fare there. Besides, as @Saint Cy of JFC already posted, money is a thing.

I don't think Bane has performed all that notably in the playoffs.
I didnt watch Magic a lot last year. Is KCP really that cooked?
Its weird that a dude who has been a starter and key role player for two different championship teams in the past 5 years is suddenly toxic at 22M per year with such a short deal.

KCP just had a down year in Orlando, he was supposed to fix all the shooting problems they were having and complement the core players. I am of the belief that Orlando needed to fundamentally shift what they were doing offensively. They had one of the worst offenses in the league last year. But trading for Bane is doubling down on Paolo/Franz ballhandling and playmaking. Now more than ever, the team goes as far as Paolo develops. Its an all in bet.
