The Non-Jazz NBA Thread in the Jazz Section

I remember when everyone thought Jalen Brown was overrated too because being a 2nd option on a loaded team means you dont have the best counting stats.

Yikes, I don't think he's overrated at all. He is the offensive hub in the non Shae minutes. He is also a very good defender and extremely versatile. Ultimately he was the second best player on a championship team, and has carried them to wins in multiple playoff games when Shae was off.

Is he a top 15 player though? Ringer had him 15th, ESPN 11th going into the season. I see people making this out to me saying he's not good, but I think it's fair to ask if he's actually top 11 or 15 good.

The non-Shai minutes are an interesting subset to analyze. He is prolific, but he's not super efficient and the offensive team performance is not that great.

I'm not going to make a full list, but I think the 10-20 range is completely fair for him, especially when considering two way impact. Besides Shai there aren't a lot of good offensive players on that team, so it's a huge offensive burden that they both take on when one or the other is not on the court. He's also still only 24 years old and by all accounts was dealing with a bad wrist last year.

You are a moron if you think Jalen Williams is overrated.

As pointed out above, this is about his supposed "top 15" status.

He absolutely isn't among the NBA's 15 best players. That's just ridiculous.

What is he then? Literally the perfect do-it-all role player for the OKC basketball machine. In this case you can't separate the man from the team.

Put him on the Jazz and nobody would be saying he's Top 15.

I was hoping someone else would post about CMB last night, because it's probably looking like I'm obsessed, but I can't not give him his props. He was a beast last night.

17/7/7/5stocks and had about 5-10 more deflections plus multiple impressive 1 on 1 defensive possessions. He was a team high +24 and that feels about right.

There is no way I would have taken CMB over Ace, so I'm not complaining, but I have to admit to being a little jealous. He would be the type of defender we could really really use.

That's interesting. I would also point out that CMB is not a box score guy. It's difficult to understand his impact unless you are watching the games.

Yes, keeping a daily tally of how many points each rookie scored gives a very limited picture. I miss the majority of the games too (living in Puerto Rico, West Coast games, sleeping). Still, it gives me something to think about.
