The Real Decision - Gobert and Burke

Top 10 PG's right now (in no order):

CP3
Westbrook
Curry
Lillard
Lowry
Parker
Dragic
Teague
Irving
Lawson

Other PG's that are good:
Rondo
DWill
Conley
Bledsoe

I'm sure I'm missing a few guys.

Just think if Rose is even 75% of himself, Exum and Smart develop, MCW remains solid.......

Burke has a long way to go.

I'm not ready to give up on Burke yet at all. Lets give him a full offseason to get his finger right, work out, train AND work with a new/better coaching staff. Lets see how he does RUNNING the offense instead of just giving the ball to hayward. He doesnt need to be great, just good.
As far as Gobert, ya he is raw but he needs experience on the floor. Give him more PT and he gets better. I think he is a perfect 3rd big on our team

The good news is that this really does look like a deep draft and having the number 5 pick is not a bad place to be. The other good news is that the Jazz still have assets that are valuable and a lot of cap space to play with. So making a move is still very possible. Obviously getting in the top 3 would have been great and it would have made a lot easier decision making.

Now that you are at 5, there are two players you have to make a call on. First, do the Jazz believe Gobert can be a starting center on a contending team? If so, you use Kanter as trade bait to try and move up or get another asset. Second, do you believe Trey is your point guard of the future? If not, you package him for some kind of deal. That is what picking 5th does for us - you have to make a call on those two guys, perhaps earlier than you wanted to make that decision.
I would seriously think about picking the BPA, whoever they think it is, and decide the rest at a later time. Would that hurt the Jazz a lot?

Too bad we don't know how good Kanter, Gobert and others are because of Corbin's agenda.

It would make this process much easier.
Kanter played the sixth-most minutes on the team, and of the bigs, only Favors played more. You object to Corbin's agenda to give the young bigs the most minutes?
It's not only the minutes. The overall horrible coaching, the role and limitations he gave to Kanter, the inadequate and inconsistent pt in the previous seasons, his rotations and stupid player combinations and his inability at helping a young/rebuilding team to grow, improve and develop.

Corbin was never the right coach for a rebuilding and young team. The whole youngsters would have been more advanced with a better coach. At least more exposed.

Tony Parker is the Eli Manning of the NBA. He is usually not even a top 5 regular season PG most seasons, but then turns into a god in the playoffs regularly.

some will fall off, some will get injured, and some will just get better and better. nobody thought dragic would become this good. nobody even gave teague a chance. he didn't even do anything 1st 2 years.

Trey will only get better. i fully expect trey to get drastically better by 3rd year

I was responding to your comment that in order for Kanter to move up he would have to take minutes from someone in the top 5. Asking questions about Kanter taking Trey Burke's minutes -- not that is silly.

Absolutely. It was a silly response to a silly argument.

One brow, we get it, you hate Kanter. Go talk to Vermin and he will help you feel better.

Why would I hate Kanter? He's talented, young and eager. I'm concerned that he seems to dismiss the importance of defense, but that's something for a coach to work with.

i knew that answer after seeing him play his first three years and about 30 games into his 4th.

So, half-way through the last season. Then, several games later is when Burks starts playing alongside Hayward more. Yet, you seem to object.

As far as your responses regaurding kanter and burks. Ya they played alot..... i still think they should have played even more.
Notice i have never complained about haywards minutes? Bump burks and kanter up near haywards minutes and im happy.

Given the injury and it's effects, I don't think Kanter could have handled another 700 minutes this season. You'd prematurely Okurize him that way.

As for Burks, you just offered that it took over a third of the season to get a handle on Hayward's potential, but you would have been OK with delaying that?

Look onebrow, you dont need to agree or try to convince me on anything.

I wish burks and kanter would have started and played similar minutes to hayward.... plain and simple.

It is simply something i would have like to have seen happen. You are not going to be able to talk me into not wanting to have seen that happen so you should just stop trting probably

I have no problem with saying 'it would have been nice if Kanter had played more'. It's the position that 'It was a mistake to not play Kanter more' I object to.

i can live with that

I forgot to add John Wall to the list and I'm still sure there are a couple of names that I am missing.
