For any political group or movement to be taken serious, they'll need to rid themselves of people like Sarah Palin. Seriously, what's her appeal? What does she offer? I don't get why she even exists still. Can anyone explain this to me?

This is very simple. She has put herself out there as a middle class, common American with "American" ideals. Think about it... all we hear about politicians is their wealth and power. Along comes Palin. The governor of a sparsely populated state that claims to hunt and be at home with her family. The average, middle class American can identify with her. They trust her. Never mind that none of this is true, it's all about perception. The middle class is fed up with the elite dictating how their life be run. The first person that convinces middle class Americans that they are one of them will be sitting in the White House come '12. Right now, more than ever, an average nobody has the best chance of winning the presidency... and I don't blame Americans for feeling this way.

All of this being said, I truly believe that Palin has no desire to be president. What's the upside for her over what she is doing now?

I think you underestimate her own sense of self-importance. There may even be some feeling of divine right with that one.

As a dem, my dream scenario is as follows: Three party race. Mitt Romney runs under the GOP ticket, Sarah Palin runs under the Tea Party ticket, Obama runs on the Dem ticket.

I think the over/under on electoral votes for Obama would have to be north of 400 in that race.

Here's a fun fundamental truth about the Tea Partiers and the present-day Republican party:

Dwight Eisenhower and Richard Nixon would be labeled socialists.

Barry Goldwater would be labeled a RINO because of his opposition to their social agenda.

This is where the GOP is presently at.
