Thoughts on Memo's return?

I think I'll only want to see him for about 16 minutes a night. Two eight minutes stints from about 2 left in the first quarter to 6 left in the 2nd...do the same in the second half. Not sure if that's realistic based on Sloan's current subbing patterns.

I don't think Memo will be able to play more than 20 minutes a game anyway, so a backup roll will be perfect. His knee won't be at full strength this year, but it should be good enough that he can still come in and play his game. We certainly can use his ability to stretch a defense.

Okur needs to step in as a 6th man, and work his minutes up from there. Ideally Id love for Memo, Millsap, and Big Al split almost equally the minutes. Thats a nice big man rotation,

Hopefully Okur is just practicing that jump shot since he cant move as great as he'd like, so when he comes back, he is an even deadlier spot up shooter. Thatd be sweet.

Memo is Money :cool:

@Headtrip - Memo's knee is fine right now. ;)

I really like the lineup GoJazz mentioned. For some teams, they'd make a decent starting five. With Fes clogging the middle, Watson and Price using their quickness, and Memo and CJ hitting outside, they'd pretty be quite formidable. I'd like to add Jeremy Evans to the mix, though. Still don't get why he doesn't get playing time...

While Memo is a solid jump shooter; he has a decent inside game. One of the main reasons he has played on the perimeter all these years was to create space for Boozer. As a second unit player he can be a very valuable post player while still jumping outside for the occassional 3-pointer.

And yes his defense will probably still range from mediocre to horrid - but how many back-up 5's in this league can light up the scoreboard?

Memo's ideal role has always been that of a strictly complimentary player (but a great one) that either comes off the bench or plays next to a defensive ace to make up for his non-existent help D. If he recovers, this could be just what the team needed in a strange way.
