No I agree with your point. Just pointing out the error on Pau. I lived in Memphis for years and if I was not a Jazz fan I would be a Grizzlies fan.

No. You don't throw away a 20/10 guy and instantly get better. Al has his flaws, but players that can put up numbers like that will always have value around the league. His contract is the problem. In order to get some value, fans better hope he can play like he did in the last half of the season last year. Dumping him just to have him gone is silly.

I will have to respectfully disagree with you. I think his numbers are inflated and he hurts team morale. Nearly everyone I talk to feel like he is too soft. If the Jazz have hard working starters then they will create an environment that everyone will follow. I don't believe that Jefferson creates a hard -working environment. Millsap does though.

I don't think you're following me. I'd be fine with Favors and Sap starting, but not until Al is traded. This is a rebuilding year. Seems to me a lot of Jazz fans want moves to try and improve us for the moment. If our FO decides they are going to keep him, then I have no problem expirementing with different line ups. OTOH, as long as it's up in the air that Al might be moved, we need to maximize his trade value for the good of the future.

No, I completely understand what you are saying. I just disagree. Even without getting anything in return, trading Jefferson will help this team. They will build a new identity and everyone will have to step up a little more. Whenever DWill was out a game we saw this same thing happen. I think too many players rely on Jefferson and that is really hurting everyone. Just trade him even if you get nothing in return and it will make this team better.

But hey, no way TyC will make this happen. We will start BigAl (big salary) and Bell (veteran) until the chances of playoffs will be gone and everybody just don' care..

Jefferson's not the best Center you could have. But why not try this starting front court combination:

C - Favors
PF - Millsap

You have your scoring with Millsap (as was seen by our previous game vs Lakers - the man can score! That frees up Favors to roam around blocking shots/rebounding. And the occasional put-backs and alley-oops.

Jefferson can then come in with the 2nd unit and I think he'll be more effective against 2nd rate defenders. I'm not big on Jefferson, but I do see that as a role that he could be useful in.

Isn't it entirely possible that Al's trade value is/will be tied to the team's success? If that's the case, and both the Jazz and Al play better with Al anchoring the second unit, wouldn't the Jazz be better served playing Al off the bench? Not saying this is necessarily the case, but isn't it at least a possibility?

edit: Think Antawn Jamison landing the fifth overall pick (Devin Harris), Jerry Stackhouse and an aging Christian Laettner in a trade after his successful 03/04 season coming off the bench for Dallas.

I just want to say that the best guys should play more. And Al and Bell right now aren't the best guys. At least they had their chance.

Well, building for the future involves more than just getting another draft pick. Even with his contract, Al has the potential to bring back important building pieces in a trade. Sending him to the bench in an effort to win a few more games this year would be shortsighted. I'm not sure it would do much as far as winning games anyway, but it would be worth a try if Utah was in a position where a few more games would be the difference between making the playoffs or not. I don't believe that's the case.

More than likely, all this move would do is hurt Al's trade value. Even if it worked in winning a few more games, the diffence is probably just making our pick a little bit worse.
