Top 5 Targets for Summer 2018

I don’t know how it would even be possible, but I still want Otto Porter.
It would take the non-guaranteed players, Burks + draft picks (probably decent ones too) in order to get him. Not out of reach, but still highly improbable. I certainly wouldn’t hate that move. Think he could be a really solid starter for the Jazz and fit what Quin wants to do.

Ingles and Porter interchangeable tbh

There is some definite smoke between Otto and Utah... wonder if they move him this offseason or if it'd be better next year though.

If we could get him for the unguaranteeds, AB, and a 2019 first I'm in. I don't want to give up a pick in this year's draft though. I think they'd be smart to move him now... they have a potential dumpster fire and if he gets hurt or they disappoint and have chemistry issues I could see his value declining and that contract being tough to move.

On the court, I like Porter. Financially, he is too much. He has the type contract that ruins everything if he isn't the right fit. Even if he is a great fit, we sacrifice so much because he gets paid so much.

Its too high risk with regards to the reward. I would rather keep Favors, sign Hezonja/Bjelika and keep Thabo than risk so much on Porter.

I'd really love to pry Satoransky out of Washington too. I think he'd do well as a super sub in our system. He can play 1-3 and has a low caphold after this year... so we could retain him while signing FAs.

He fell out of the rotation in Washington during the playoffs. I wonder if we took Smith off their hands it would do it. They really should try and duck the tax this year. I think Tomas could be a lowkey really valuable pickup.

Rubio
Mitchell
Ingles
Porter
Gobert

Ooooo-weeee

Let me dream

Not sure how much 4 he can play... He may be able to split minutes between 3/4. Certainly in the playoffs that's a great lineup, but I'd want to spare him the wear and tear of playing 4 often... Joe doesn't do well against stronger dudes.

Certainly enough skill to figure it out.

We have the best assets to trade with Washington. Any salary we save them prior to July 1 is saving them that money times 2 or 3. They are set to be a repeat luxury tax offender.

For example, trading Burks ($10.8) for Gortat ($12.8) would save Washington like $6 million not just $2.

We have so many scenarios trading with Washington. Move up from #21 to #15, get Porter, get a future 1st. So many options...

I believe luxury tax for last year is frozen... next year is a different story doe.

So they actually weren't a luxury tax team last year, but they project to be this year (around $5 over) and definitely next year. If they want to keep Oubre and Satoransky and the rest of the team intact, they will stay over the luxury for quite some time.

If we can sign either Bjelica or Joe Harris then I will be really happy. Not sure if we can Bjelica would mean losing Favors.

They are in the tax but can’t change that now. Salary cap freezes at some point and teams are stuck. If they can duck the tax this year it helps them avoid the repeater tax.
