Dallas realized that they're not a true contender and didn't make the same mistake as we did overpaying average players with minimal trade value.
Right, so what are they going to do going forward? They got worse.

They have an MVP caliber player that's improving and a great player development staff. Brunson was a 2nd round pick that was a non factor in the playoffs until this season now he's worth Don/Tatum money.Right, so what are they going to do going forward? They got worse.
Not to mention Brunson is the only guy close to Lukas timeline. In two years they gonna have Luka, DFS, and a bunch of old AF guys making mid teen money… I’m sure Luka will love that.If Ballmer or Lacob was the owner of the Mavs, there would be no discussion about this Brunson deal. They would do everything they could do to keep him. Losing talent without the ability to replace it is very bad when it comes to winning. This move is very good for Cuban's pockets, but not for winning a championship. The opportunity cost of keeping Brunson is almost entirely on Cuban's pockets. I understand that team owners face the dilemma between the desire to win and the desire to be even more rich, but I personally don't give a damn about how rich they are. It is really bad when Ryan Smith chooses his wealth over winning because I only care about the latter. OTOH, it is also good for the Jazz when their competitors make the same decision. The Mavs are much worse off without Brunson than with him when it comes to winning.
How many non All Star players get max deals and it pans out well for the team?
IDK how many all star games did Wiggins play in before this year? Brunson ain’t getting the max either. Brunsons deal will look closer to FVV’s deal that seemed pricey than some overpaid guy like Deangelo Russell. How many non All Star players get max deals and it pans out well for the team?
I personally wouldn't give Ayton a max deal.Ayton is about to get one and he’s not an all-star. Are you saying he’s not worth it?

Why did Minnesota move Wiggins? He was good in a complimentary role as the 4/5 guy on one of the greatest teams in NBA history not as the #1 guy on a max for a team with average talent, lol.IDK how many all star games did Wiggins play in before this year? I understand there's a CBA. Atlanta did this exact same thing with John Collins and now they literally can't get anyone to take him. The Knicks overpaid Randle and now they're stuck with him.You do realize that Donovan and Tatum would be signed for more money if it was possible.
They moved him cuz Towns wanted his buddy on the team… lolz. Mike Conley made max for years and helped lead his team to the playoffs… then they got a bunch of stuff when they traded him but lolz at them… he wasn’t worth the max.Why did Minnesota move Wiggins?
