Trump Dictatorship and All Things Politics

For the MAGA crowd, I just want to tip you off, this video is AI generated. I know you all aren't very good at spotting it.

Watched it live on a plane. It was pretty amazing really.
Very impressive! MAGA hates the guy. If he were elected, I can’t imagine peace, anymore than I can see peace in our present moment. We really need someone who can cut through all the pain and anger of the past 10 years, on both sides. Don’t we? We need a generational leader that can lead us out of what is, to a great degree, a manufactured morass. After all, Trump’s foundation is a narrative that is fictional.

But, loved seeing Newsom take the fight to Trump. And Noem’s remarks, that seemed to precipitate chaos at her presser, was a declaration of war against state rights.

Overall, Trump is waging war on the cultural front. Hence eliminate DEI everywhere, etc. But, one really cannot stomp out an entire worldview via fiat. I think we found that out a hundred years ago when we legislated prohibition of alcohol. Trump is trying to win the culture war by fiat. I’ve said it before: if MAGA culture thinks this is a winning strategy, it’s like saying liberal attitudes, and the >50% of Americans opposed to Trump and his policies, are just going to say “oh, ok, you win”, and just lay down. That’s not going to happen. But that’s the policy of Trump and Project 2025. Winning the culture wars involves conquest of liberals, and dictatorial imposition of MAGA “values”.

Anyway, yeah, Newsome can really speak. You need that. You need to be able to move people with your words, and not simply appeal to their rational minds. You need to inspire hope, inspire thoughts of a better future. Trump, on the other hand, claims his dystopian vision is a solution. All lies, all designed to consolidate his power, and implement the fascist Revolution known as Project 2025.

Newsome would get my vote. But might not be able to pick a candidate more hated by the people of MAGA , and the emotional sickness within MAGA, that Trump has used to such advantage.

Can’t think of a better description of MAGA. The government is Donald Trump. Trump has made it clear that he IS the state. Trump is the state, and what he commands is what he demands. MAGA: “we will, you will, follow Trump’s demands”. He IS the state. Donal Trump IS the government!

He did say he “loves the uneducated”. Why? Easy: the uneducated lack critical thinking skills. The meme is correct in saying “thinking is hard”. MAGA will find it particularly difficult, since many are not used to thinking using reasoning skills, but Trump also knows he’s talking to the people, whose anger and feelings of being cut off, that his very demagoguery has been taking advantage of, and from the day he descended Trump Tower, in 2015, and told Americans he had a handy scapegoat for them: immigrants. The man knew he had a golden opportunity in 2016 to use his skill at marshaling fear, anger, and hatred to his advantage. We’ve had 10 years of his fascist rhetoric now.

MAGA believes Donald Trump IS the government now. Americans will do as he says, or else.

No real surprise if a MAGAT posts memes like this. After all, it’s true, thinking is hard! And they are very ill equipped for the task…I guess it’s possible they forgot Trump IS the government now….

But aren’t both sides the same?

One side believes immigrants should be treated humanly while the other wants to deport them and ethnically cleanse America of all impure vermin who are poisoning our nation’s blood.

One side believes in climate change and vaccines while the other doesn’t.

One side believes women should be treated equal to men while the other believes they should remain quiet and out of sight baby incubators.

One side believes in a social safety net so that poor and old people aren’t destitute while the other believes social safety nets should only be for the rich.

One side supports Ukraine and its desire to defend itself against invasion while the other loves Putin, thinks he’s an genius, and sees Russia as a model for our country.

One side believes in free and fair elections while the other rejects them and attempts insurrections, attempting to kill the vice president, when they lose.

Both sides are equal and the same, right?

This is a good post.

One thing I’ve noticed is how all of Trump regime leaders are imitating Trump. Noem went on Fox News yesterday gaslighting the audience about what was happening in Los Angeles. She said, “they will stay and liberate the city from the socialists.” Clearly, an ideological war for many of these creeps. They see ethnically cleansing America as a worthy goal to eliminate political opponents and people of out group skin color.

Pete Hegseth, JD Vance, and Tulsi Gabbard routinely attempt to act all “tough”, imitating Trump in order to placate their audience of one.

Interesting

California national guards troops and marines deployed to Los Angeles to help restore order after days of protest against the Trump administration have told friends and family members they are deeply unhappy about the assignment and worry their only meaningful role will be as pawns in a political battle they do not want to join.

Three different advocacy organisations representing military families said they had heard from dozens of affected service members who expressed discomfort about being drawn into a domestic policing operation outside their normal field of operations. The groups said they have heard no countervailing opinions.

“The sentiment across the board right now is that deploying military force against our own communities isn’t the kind of national security we signed up for,” said Sarah Streyder.

Oh. Very interesting! Donald is underwater on immigration. Uh oh

What’s so sad about, and why it’s so flat out scary to hear, the present moment in America described in such stark contrasting sides, is it really highlights the near impossibility of peaceful resolution. I say “near”, to preserve some hope for a miracle.

Noem’s presser yesterday in Ca., where the senator’s take down happened, saw Noem saying, in so many words, but very difficult to argue it does not capture the essence: “we are here to overturn the will of the people of LA, and the people of Ca., to elect leaders of their choice”. So, she’s saying she and DHS are where they were, in order to end democracy.

She’s the biggest showboater in the administration. Everyone can see it. So many ignorant people in the Cabinet, but she thinks she’s auditioning for the presidency some day. That’s exactly what she’s doing, and from that realization flows the question “what have we come to?”, a question hard to escape wherever you look in the Cabinet.
But, really, her opinion of herself is ludicrous.

Great post, Red.
Thanks str8line, looks like we’re heading for a showdown of epic proportions in some form. And it’s weird knowing one is living at such a jaw dropping moment in the history of one’s own country. It’s surreal. Am I in a Twilight Zone episode? Or a Philip K. Dick novel? lol. Dick’s “The Man in the High Castle”: is it possible the fascists actually won WWII, and we all woke up one day to find them in charge here? Seriously, though, what a place we are in!

Speaking of showboating, here’s Noem assisting 10 guys with rifles converge on the home of a 28 year old pregnant mother of four. Noem showing Trumpian resolve. But is this what impresses people? Or is the cruelty impossible to hide, when you come right down to it? Are we supposed to be proud of scenes like this? There’s a video at the link:

Sabrina Medina said she was in the shower around 6 a.m. when her brother-in-law first saw the menacing presence in front of the family’s home.

“I was just terrified, I’m not going to lie to you,” Medina told KTLA’s Rick Chambers. “I was shaking. I was scared. I’ve never gone through anything like this.”

Medina said she looked out the window and saw 10 men dressed in tactical military gear, all carrying rifles.

Federal agents stormed a Huntington Park home Thursday morning and were accompanied by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.

Sabrina Medina, 28, was cleaning her patio Wednesday night when she saw a silver minivan slow down in front of her home in Huntington Park.

She said she saw the driver recording her and her brother-in-law at the home.

“I screamed at them: ‘Why are you recording me?’” she said. “I started screaming because I thought, you know, something bad was going to happen to me.”

She said the people in the van didn’t respond. Scared for her four children, Medina went inside the house and called her husband, Jorge Saldana, 30, who was at a nearby laundromat washing clothes. She told him what happened and that he needed to come home.

She and her husband got into an argument about his immigration status, she said. Medina worried immigration officials were now targeting him and their house. At one point, she told her husband she didn’t want him attending his 10-year-old daughter’s graduation.

She said the argument ended with her husband storming out of the house.

“He was upset,” she said. “He wanted to go to the graduation but I told him no and that I was going to take my sister.”

Medina’s husband, Saldana, was wanted for being in the country following his deportation. Eight years ago, Saldana was arrested for a violent crime, but the criminal charges were dropped and he was subsequently deported, Medina said.

Early Thursday morning, Medina was rattled by several loud knocks on the front door. When she looked through the window she saw a man in fatigues and other men dressed in similar clothing with assault rifles pointed toward her. She said the man ordered her to come out of the house. She explained she had just finished showering and needed to get dressed, as well as wake up her kids. Medina asked the man for the soldiers to put down their guns and they did, she said.

Eventually, the family walked out and stood in the driveway as the men in fatigues searched the house for her husband, Medina said. He was not home at the time.

As she, her brother-in-law and her kids waited in the driveway, Medina said she spotted Noem watching the operation.

Cameras inside and outside the home showed the men in fatigues walking around and searching the house. The men left shortly after, Medina said. There were at least about a dozen men in fatigues, according to Medina and videos reviewed by the Los Angeles Times.

She hasn’t spoken to her husband since the raid on their home and is now worried how she will be able to pay this month’s $3,000 rent. Her husband was the main breadwinner.

The incident has traumatized her four kids whose ages range from 2 to 10, according to Medina. She said she is four months pregnant with twin boys.

“My daugther is very sad, she wanted to go to her graduation,” she said. “ My 7-year-old has been asking where her father is, they’re very close to one another.”

“This is no way of living,” she added.

On the campaign trail, U.S. President Donald Trump promised to end the world's hottest conflicts and usher in global peace, but nearly five months in, with Israel attacking Iran and bloodshed in Gaza and Ukraine unabated, those hopes are in shambles.

U.S. ally Israel struck dozens of Iranian targets in a dramatic and multi-faceted attack on Thursday that analysts say threatens to eventually spiral into an all-out regional war.

The strikes appear to be a snub to Trump, who had repeatedly pushed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu not to attack Iran.

"Trumpian diplomacy is one of the first casualties of these attacks," said Brett Bruen. "He has struggled to even get close to a ceasefire (in Gaza), let alone peace in any major conflict. Iran was looking the most promising - and Netanyahu just spoiled it."

Some Trump allies privately acknowledge that his diplomatic efforts had been faltering even before Israel's attack.

The U.S. has also made little discernible progress toward a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine, whose conflict Trump vowed to end before even taking office.

And his administration has taken no visible steps toward expanding the Abraham Accords.

As Trump has struggled to seal peace accords, foreign policy divisions have opened inside his own administration. Dozens of officials, from the National Security Council to the Pentagon to the State Department, have been jettisoned amid the infighting.

Even before Israel's attack, several administration officials had begun to privately question if Witkoff, who lacks diplomatic experience but has emerged as Trump's top negotiator, had overstayed his welcome.

As Israel's attacks unfolded on Thursday, some prominent Democrats expressed frustration that Trump had scrapped during his first term a deal between the United States, Iran and European allies forged during the Obama administration.

"This is a disaster of Trump and Netanyahu's own making, and now the region risks spiraling toward a new, deadly conflict," Democratic Senator Chris Murphy said in a post on X.

Whether Thursday's strikes will trigger a regional conflict remains unclear. Even so, analysts said, Tehran could see U.S. assets in the region as legitimate targets.

For example, Tehran-aligned Houthi rebels in Yemen could resume their bombing campaign against ships transiting the Red Sea.

Also unclear is Israel's ability to permanently impede Iran's nuclear program.

"If Israel is to be taken at its word that tonight's strikes were the first round in an all-out Israeli campaign against Iran's nuclear and missile programs, Iran's regime is now knee-deep within a potentially existential, life-or-death moment," said Charles Lister, head of the Syria Initiative at the Middle East Institute.

"That paints tonight's strikes in a whole new, unprecedented light and makes the risk of a major spiral of escalation far more real than what we've seen play out before."
