Utes 2011 Football Discussion

coach Whittingham on Wynn..

"Jordan has got to gain confidence in his arm," Whittingham said. "It's not a physical thing now. It's a mental thing. Anybody that's had surgery, whether it be a knee or shoulder, there's a period of time where you've got to (realize), 'Hey, it's better. I can do this. I can cut loose. I can throw the football the way I want to without worrying if there's going to be a twinge of pain or some setback.'

"That's where Jordan is at right now. He's battling through that psychologically. ... It's just a matter of getting over that hump mentally."

Reports are that Wynn has looked tons better in practice.
I hope that is true and hope even more it translates to the field and it mostly can be chalked up to be new offense, new OC with only 1 WR he's familiar with and first game miscues etc...

And I wouldn't expect Wynn to all the sudden become a star QB, and he doesn't really have to be, we just need him to play consistent, accurate enough to give us a chance to win the game. That's all i'll ask for him this saturday.

Wynn might have thee worst throwing motion I've ever seen in college football.

I've never seen such a terrible throwing motion and so many fly balls.

This upcoming game might be real close!

With BYU's ultra conservative playcalling and Utah's inability to throw more than 7 yards downfield, we're in for a knock out Holy War that might end up being a great field goal and punt kicking context!

ugh

I was really hoping for amiracle there at the end, but this team just couldn't cash in on USC's last mistake (pass interference). How fitting that the game tying FG gets blocked, they didn' deserve to be in the game at that point anyway. At least the officials got the spot right on Christopher's last catch...

Lane Kiffin's horrific preparation of his players gave Utah a chance. Wynn's inability to quarterback pissed on that chance.

"Sorry dude"

I'm surprised we even stayed in that game, after a while i got tired of our defense bailing out wynn and our pathetic offense and changed the channel, turned back for the ending. meh

And anytime i see Wynn scrambling I get the same feeling I see CJ chucking up a 3. ugh. I can't imagine he completed too many passes while scrambling. He just doesn't look comfortable at all when he's pressured and on the run.

I think Wynn is adjusting to being out of the spread offense. It is still hard for me to accept them moving away from it after all those years of success. Sad.

That being said as bad as Wynn is playing at least he is not Jake Heaps. That dude really sucks.

Wynn cost Utah the game, plain and simple. I was extremely impressed with Utah's defense. USC got good yardage but Utah's D got almost no help from the Offense what so ever. I thought by the 4th quarter they would wear down but they actually got better the longer the game went on. It's really a shame Utah has the Wynn problem because I think that Defense is going to be pretty special.

Next week's game should be interesting. Both teams have enough question marks that it should prevent either fan base from proclaiming that it's going to be a cake walk for their respective side.

Wynn's throwing motion leads me to believe that his shoulder isn't right.

As far as getting used to the spread, this kind of offense is more to Wynn's strength (pocket passing). If Little Brother had a QB that could throw the rock, they would have beaten USC by at least 2 touchdowns. Utah's WRs were open all night and could have made big plays. Instead, most of the time Wynn would miss them with his awkward sidearm fly ball. And when he did hit them, the WRs had to wait so long for the ball to drop that the big play opportunity was lost.

Heaps looking worse than Wynn? Lay off the kool-aid. Heaps doesn't look bad (not that great). It's Doman Anae that looks horrible. Try running a play designed to utilize the forward pass. 2-5 yard outs in the flat to your RB can only be ran so many times before the defense eventually figures it out.
