The only guys who could make me look away from Tre Johnson at #5 are Jeremiah Fears, if all of a sudden he's hitting every shot everywhere, or maybe Collin Murray-Boyles, if all of a sudden he's hitting every shot everywhere.

Kon isn't athletic enough to go #5.

I vote for pure fire sale (Lauri, Collins, Clarkson) Try to get #2 or #3 & keep 5. It costs Lauri. What else can the Jazz get from SA or Philly? Unfortunately, if you deal with Philly, you probably have PG's horrible contract coming back.
This is my vote as well. If the Jazz could get #3 while still keeping #5. . . that’s ideal and I’d be totally fine taking back PG if that’s what it takes to make that happen.

Maluach is a no starter for me, it makes me think “troll” before I think any serious thought about drafting him.

For me, it’s between Kon and Kas right now with Fears and Tre behind them. I’ve looked at these four extensively. I became higher on Kas/Kon, neutral on Fears, and lower on Tre. Gun to my head I’d probably have it:

Kas
Kon
Tre
Fears

No matter what it’s it very disappointing reward for a tanking season. I feel as though this part of the draft is weak.
My concern with Kas is can he create his own shot…

To all guys talking about getting very high picks for Laurie, Collins etc. - we will not have the hottest commodity on the market this summer. Giannis will probably change teams, Boston may try shipping out Porzingis, White or Brown in the wake of Tatum's injury, Zion and Durant could be on the market... Any team thinking about competing NOW would likely have much better options than the unproven in the playoffs Lauri.

The time to trade him for a big haul was last summer.

Giannis will be worth a ridiculous haul.
Zion has major availability/conditioning/injury issues
Durant is 36
Porzingis has injury issues
White and Brown are great players.
Lauri underperformed in a blatant tank season.

They all have their circumstances. I don't know how Lauri matches up with those players (Giannis is obviously the best by a mile) but other than Giannis, I think the conversations can be had on who you would prefer and at what price point.

Giannis is on the wrong side of 31. I could see Dallas do it for Flagg. But only because Nico is crazy. If I were Milwaukee I would do Giannis for Flagg.

Zion is a huge liability/risk.

Durant is ancient.

Lauri, to me, is the best option after Giannis. He is in his prime. He is a near perfect 3rd option and stretch player next that fits next to most stars in the league.

I hope Dallas trades Flagg for Giannis, mostly so that by the time the Jazz are ready to contend, Flagg is in the Eastern Conference.

Here are my current thoughts on 5, before I do a deep dive on these guys:

(Assuming top 4 are Flagg/Harper/Ace/VJ)

I think it's between these two
- Kas - I believe in his upside as a primary offensive initiator, but also believe that if he doesn't hit he can be a valuable secondary creator as well. I think his medium outcome is like a Podz. If he can consistently hit that step back 3, it will open up the rest of his game to really play make like he is capable of.
- Tre - I think he's clearly the best player available here, but I just don't like his archetype and I've been extremely turned off by the majority of the games I've watched him play defense. What he did offensively, for a very bad Texas team, in an incredibly tough SEC was extremely impressive.
Next Tier
- Kon - Very safe pick for a guy that will be able to be on the court because of his shooting and doing all of the little things. I don't see the upside here, but if the idea is to just make sure we have a contributor out of this draft, I think Kon will be that.
- Fears - Extremely quick with the ball and able to get to his spots. I'm not 100% sure he will be better than Key or Sexton.
- Philon - The best player in my favorite player archetype (defensive minded guard). His perimeter defense would be sorely needed, but as much as I like him I'll admit that taking him this early would be a huge reach. He needs to show that he can shoot much better and still needs to get stronger to be an impactful defender in the NBA.
- Traore - I think this would be the swing pick. His highs have been higher than anyone we will have a chance to pick here. He really plays well in big moments. He currently has question marks at both shooting and defense, which makes his floor not an NBA player.
Guys in this range that I don't fit the Jazz
- Queen - I think he really needs to play next to a floor spacing 5, which we don't have
- Maluach - Doesn't make sense with Kessler
