What's new

Who's the new floor leader?

Deron played ****** defense for the last couple months. I'm pretty sure our defense will see an immediate improvement with him gone.

perhaps a bit strong, but I agree with your general point. Harris's speed and footwork on D is definitely better.

Too bad we couldn't bring in at least one shooter before the deadline... the team would be MUCH better if they had.

EDIT: Speaking of which, why didn't they strong-arm Morrow into the deal? Add Morrow and Bell to the deal and tell them to keep one of the picks. Damn.

I like Harris patience, he looks pretty comfortable out there and I'm sure he'll pick up the offense just fine.

One thing I noticed was Deron didn't trust Al in the pick and roll, and Harris being new or what ever had no problem feeding Big Al the ball cutting doun the middle of the lane and setting him up perfectly a few times.

Devin Harris, less than24 hours after arriving and a brief time on the bench at the start, took over tonight, playing 29 minutes. I believe he played the entire 4th quarter. He's way quicker and more aggressive getting into the paint and either getting off a shot, getting fouled, or dishing from the paint than Williams was.

What impressed me is that they cut over to Devin and Scott Layden in the 1st quarter when Watson was on the floor. They were clearly discussing plays. Harris seems to be a pretty bright guy. I loved that quip he made about everyone knowing what the Jazz run.

Gotta respect Watson when he voluntarily stepped aside. Corbin made the comment that the PG job was up for grabs and Earl quickly shut down any controversy by saying he prefers to come off the bench. I'd love to see Watson stick around another 3-4 years - if his game doesn't deteriorate.

And I agree with everyone else re: the Jazz looked like a better "team." There was great ball movement and fantastic defense, especially in teh 1st quarter. Good to see.

So does Harris start against the Pistons... or does Ty give him a few more games to acclimate?

One difference I noticed between Devin and Deron in the pick-and-roll situation is that Deron's pass is very strong as if he still thought the receiver of the pass is Boozer (who admittedly has better hands than Jefferson). But look at one of the last possessions this game, Devin found Al in the pick and roll with a softer pass and Al rolled to the basket for 2. I don't remember how many times I got frustrated watching Deron's pass go through Al's hands and turn it over.

Harris seems to be very smooth, and he is not afraid to break plays at all. Like that first basket on the drive. He saw an opening and just went for it with no hesitation at all. He is going to have his ups and downs as a Jazzman but he will be fine. He will soon be the floor leader.

Kyrylo Fesenko is the leader on the bench. I love how he always looks happy for the team even when he doesn't play.

Seriously though, look for AK and Millsap to step it up as leaders. AK has always had the ability to be a playmaker, but Deron's existence has always undermined his role in the Jazz. I see AK signing a deal in the summer, hopefully not for 17million per year though.

One more reason for AK and Millsap to step up is Derrick Favors. They will play their socks out to prevent being overlooked by the rookie who has a lot of upside.

Side note: Elson has been sucking. Give his minutes to Fes and Evans!

Really doubt Sap is ever going to be a leader. He really seems to be more of a quiet type who lets his game talk.
