Zach Lowe's take on Hayward's Contract situation

Cool. Another thread ruined by Nick.

Now can you ******** please stop quoting him so I don't have to read his crap?

The most surprising thing to me is that Numberica, an intelligent and reasonable person, seems to agree with kkk's opinion.

Well in regards to the article (this may be the first post in that vein but I don't know), I think it's weird that Hayward somehow headlines this article when Monroe has consistently and obviously been a better player, and Bledsoe is set to have a better year as well.

It's really quite simple.

Monroe and Bledsoe are more or less known quantities with many similar comps to choose from. Bledsoe is a cross between Nate Robinson and Chris Paul, and the trajectory isn't that difficult to forecast. Similarly with Monroe, he's basically a big that fills up space, rebounds, but doesn't have a very high motor and doesn't really finish that well. He does have a tremendous court vision though together with an elite passing skill that may come in handy, but all and all, his trajectory isn't that difficult to predict neither.

Hayward on the other hand is that mystical white dude who can ball. And he can ball really really well as it turned out. He showed glimpses of brilliance here and there with his solid shooting, heady plays, and crisp passing. But can he do it consistently? He sure is long enough to play both SG and SF. But is he quick enough to guard smaller SG and is he physical enough to guard LeBron?

What's his potential? What's his ceiling? There isn't really a comp that you can say "Yeah that's who he'll turn out to be in 3-4 years time".

He's like that white unicorn - does he really exist? If he does - then the value is immense. But if he turns out to be just another white horse, well then you wouldn't even look twice.

It's your call - what say you?

I don't think the Jazz organization has ever worried or considered race when selecting players however, there are some Jazz fans who are racially bias when it comes to players. I think the organization was a little bit worried if a majority white population would identify with black NBA players. I think overall this was a ridiculous concern but there are some Jazz (NBA) fans who are racially bias towards one race over the other.

Even so, wayyyy early seems a stretch. If you only read draft express (seems a lot of people on here do) then you might think it was way early. Obviously NBA teams don't share your opinion of him being drafted wayyyy early.

If Utah really liked white guys more than any other race, don't you think they would have more white people on the team? We have what, two if you count Kanter as a white guy?

Biedrins

Gobert is CLEARLY not white. Neto isn't here yet, and we don't really know if he ever will be. And Biedrens was taken to hit the cap, and will either be traded or let go by the end of the season.

The team has 1 white player; Hayward. So much for the racist Millers theory.

Hayward and CJ, per 36 mins during their fourth year:

40% fg, 36% 3pt, 6 reb, 5 assists, 1 steal, 17 points, 16 shots
46% fg, 35% 3pt, 4 reb, 3 assists, 1 steal, 15 points, 12 shots

Now, I don't really believe this, but if Hayward wants Favors dollars, he has a lllloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong
way to go to get there. Right now, he isn't even close. Right now, he is no better than CJ Miles.

This year so far:

40% fg, 36% 3pt, 6 reb, 5 assists, 1 steal, 17 pts, 34 mins
52% fg, 38% 3pt, 3 reb, 1 assists, 2 steal, 15 pts, 21 mins

CJ is playing better so far this year.

CJ played with Deron Williams, and is playing with Kyrie Irving this year.

Hayward is playing with John Lucas and Jamaal Tinsley. I'm sure that doesn't make a difference though.

If you honestly think CJ Miles could do the same thing Hayward is right now, then you're beyond obtuse.
