Since you made the list and Hill is on it. I'm curious what do you think it'll take to get the Pacers to trade him?

Yeah Hill is one of the less likely guys we could get and there hasn't been a lot of chatter about him. I didn't think he would take a ton to get though. I would offer Burke and a 1st round pick. I've wanted to go ask pacer fans what it would take to trade for him.

I would think losing Exum makes the value for Hill go up in Bird's mind. Honestly I think the asking price starts at Burke, Lyles, and two first rounders. And they'll have to meet somewhere at Burke, Lyles and one 1st. Which if you are DL and the goal is to compete it's costly but affordable.

That just feels like a crazy offer for Hill. Hasn't he only done well like last season?

I think we need to give Burke a crack at it before rushing out into the trade market. Had the injury happened pre-draft we could likely get someone. Trey could improve with less dribbling and a better shot selection... He could play a little more like Exum on offense, but provide a better late shot clock option than Exum.

We need to wait... If we are still having issues at the point teams will fall out of contention and potentially look to rebuild or retool. Lowry, Hill, Collison, Bledsoe or Knight, Bradley or IT, could all become available depending on team performance. I'd keep an eye on Houston with Beverly and Minnesota with Rubio (although I really don't understand why Minny people think he's like a superstar). Jennings also might prove he's healthy and be had for a decent price because of the mammoth deal they gave to Jackson. Right now those guys would cost a lot of assets... in January though maybe not. Patience for now.

I'm not a big Burke believer, but I wouldn't give up on him just yet given our current situation at point..

I agree. Give him a chance to raise his TV and hope for an opportunity by the deadline.

I wouldn't move Burke just for any vet. However if the right one came along for an acceptable price I would. And I am a Burke believer. There's benefits to having say George Hill(who is probably the only realstic target I'd trade Burke for) before camp starts.

Although what you're saying seems to make the most sense. Burke is a smart player and has a superstar worth ethic. No need to do anything rash unless he isn't showing significant signs of improvement.

Smart players don't usually shoot 2-20 as often as Trey. Smart players usually have a better sense of when they're having an off night, and adjust accordingly. This is my biggest gripe with Trey. If he could develop some shred of self-awareness, I wouldn't be nearly as down on him.

I would love to have Hill. If he was available and the price is right I'd jump on it. He can also move to both guard positions and would be a good vet to have.

I think Burke is a worker. I'm hoping his step back last year was an adjustment to the system or just off year. When we got just average point guard play last year we were pretty freaking good.

I think Indiana and Phoenix will both be terrible this year. Phoenix especially. I think there may be a deal to make there at some point during the season if we need to.

What about my 3 way trade idea from the other thread.

Boston gets Manimal
Utah gets Thomas
Denver gets Burke, a first, a second.
Umm. I'd rather have Faried. Even at his new contract, that'd be a better deal.

Somebody unexpected will come available. Once everyone sees that the Jazz are pretty good even without Exum and will make the playoffs with Burke and Neto, they'll get on board with chasing someone who comes available.

I really don't think teams think much about how awesome the other team will become when making a trade. Unless they are in the division or share the same championship/playoff window. They just want to get the most for their players.

I think Thomas is very underrated. He gets too much blame for the PHX crap and not enough of the credit for their good start. He also got beat up in Sacramento because he couldn't get along with Boogie. Post all-star break (when he got to a good situation) he scored the 5th highest points per minute in the league. I'm not sure how much his defensive issues would hurt us with Gobert and Favors backing him up on defense.

A guy I've liked that I would have suggested is Ray McCallum. Underrated and overlooked in all the chaos up in Sacramento. . . but it looks like the Spurs just traded a 2nd round pick to get him.

Again this is assuming the coaching staff hasn't told Burke to be ultra aggressive no matter what given his role and the fact that there was no way the team was making the Playoffs. Kobe put up four airballs in one game and never stop shooting. Just looking at things at face value isn't always the best way to come to a conclusion. Again if you have confidence in your ability and the defense is leaving you open you shoot. It's on Burke to make shots. I've said it before the shots he's missing will make or break him as a pro. Either way taking them doesn't necessarily make him a low IQ player.
