Summer 2015: FIBA games of Utah Jazz players

Another hard foul this time by Turkey's ringer. Like I said these games are becoming less and less friendly. Of course Turkey and Greece have not always been good neighbors. Wish Russia and Ukraine would play against each other.

After watching this game, I have to agree. Pleiss can roll to the basket and keeps the ball up. That's good. Defensively, he's Kanter-esque. Doesn't help, doesn't contest. Backs away when players shoot. And he's already 25, so probably little upside.
Kanteresque is wrong. He isn't that bad. He has positioning most of the time.

Yes, an exaggeration on my part. Kanter is historically bad. But Pleiss appears to have very slow reaction time. Maybe it's coaching. Perhaps he just needs to be told it's ok to contest shots. Pleiss did have 11 rebounds. That surprised me.

Given the roster composition of the Jazz, their biggest position of need is PG and smallest at wing. Sure, Giannis would be great on Utah. But less of a drop in talent from Giannis to Hood or Burks than from Schroder to Burke, Neto and Cotton. Schroder was the bright spot for Germany. He can shoot from outside and had some nice drives.

Of course, but BPA always wins and it's funny that he was available as well. I mean it's not like Exum is untalented or sth or Gordon couldn't guard smaller guards.

Giannis was a huge risk just like Schroder. Both were incredibly raw. I actually wanted the Jazz to trade back. But who knows, maybe they would have taken Larkin with their first pick if they had traded back a few spots. Utah had zero viable PG's on their roster, so it was pretty apparent they had to draft one. They definitely would have still drafted Rudy at #21.

At least we didn't get MCW. He's a career 25% 3PT shooter.

Yep. But when I do 20/20 hindsight then I usually recognize the "best missed potential".
I'm also not so sure about MCW. He seems like a really good kid and he's got some intriguing skills. Maybe if he finds himself in the right situation, he could be quite good.

I'm always for: Try to strike big and risk failing at the same time. Especially in the NBA structure that **** works really well, if you owner isn't some cheap *** bitch. In 2013 the Jazz were at a point where they needed to get a homerun down the stretch or rebuild from scratch.
Rudy is on the way to become that homerun and Exum could become one as well one day. And if you imagine you hit the jackpot on top and had a 3/4 like Giannis on the team, that's legit scary. He'd be the perfect guy with his shooting potential to complement Gobert Favors. Not giving up length, just intensity for more finesse and shooting.

No argument from me, BTP. But not all teams rank players the same. And some teams factor in personality and character as much as skill. So the player that may be BPA to us might be several notches down for another team. In Rudy's case, others had 26 chances to make him the pick and didn't. And Orlando had Gordon ranked higher than Exum, even though nearly every mock had the same top-4 and the only argument seemed to be whether to pick Jabari or Wiggins #1.

Jazz backed themselves into a corner by having no viable PG's on the roster heading into the draft. That's very poor roster management.

I'm just glad Boston did us a favor by taking Olynyk. Pre-draft rumors had the Jazz very interested in a biog, but knew he'd be gone by their pick, prompting them to move up when Burke dropped.

Getting ready to leave for Koln in the morning. Going to the game tomorrow. I will be yelling sweet nothings at our boys. Sitting pretty close. Seats are good.
They will get some Jazz love.

Whoever is interested in watching Eurobasket. I just got 1 month subscription from livebasketball.tv . They are going to have all the games from FIBA America and FIBA Eurobasket in the next month. The price for the subscription is 9 Euro from Europe, 10 USD from the US and 8 USD from Canada for 1 month subscription. (you have to cancel the subscription before the month expires otherwise they will automatically renew it).

They had relatively good coverage last year. I don't know if they've improved on it, but for that price I decided to test it.

I actually got it as well. They also have on demand so you can watch the games at any time and can watch four at a time. Supposedly box scores as well. Have watched some of Afrobasket and Tuto Marchand. Streams are high quality. I believe they also have Euroleague games when they start.

Just an alert Germany vs France tomorrow is a day game in Germany so it starts at 7AM MT. I am sure Stitches will provide a link. If you have adblock plus on Chrome you should be able to get the French broadcasters from a certain streaming site.

Also Hanlan was the last cut from Team Canada. They still have Wiggins, Stauskas, Bennett, Nicholson, Cory Joseph and a few other NBA guys.
