Dennis Schroeder "will seek other opportunities to be a starter"...

The league has definitely moved that way since always.

Yah, I was one of the people that got tricked into thinking that you can do it with a team of solid(not upper level talent) that is coached well and executes a system perfectly after the Spurs 2014 title and the Atlanta regular season last year, but I admit I was wrong. That Spurs team still had 2-3 future hall-of-famers and Kawhi who at the time I didn't believe will be top tier level player in the league, but he's turned into one, and Atlanta completely collapsed in the playoffs when teams had the time to prepare and started taking away their weapons and started scheming specifically against their system. At the end of the day talent wins vs schemes and talent + schemes wins vs only talent(simplistically put, but you get what I mean).

Why not though? Too many question marks around Exum. Will he retain his quickness after the injury? Will it affect his desperately needed confidence? Will he be able to develop a decent offensive game? Will he be good enough within a reasonable time-frame to compete while the team still has its core?

With Schroeder, you get one of the best young PGs in the league who can already produce at a high level. He can probably be signed for a reasonable amount of money, and it makes sense for Atlanta since they can take their time developing Exum behind Teague.
1.You are over rating Shroeder
2. You are under rating Exum.
3. The guy just came out in the press complaining about his use on his current team, and you don't need that type of me first player on your team (see Kanter).

I mentioned that he should be a target since the day Exum was hurt. it was obvious. Schro has gotten better and better and it seemed logical that this would be the season where he'd grown unhappy and say he'd want to be a starter.

I'd do Burke + OKC 1st + a 2017 protected 1st (top 18 protected) whose restrictions loosen over time.

Quite frankly, the Sixers have a ton of assets and really need to go after this kid.

I think #3 is the main thing being over looked. Going into the season he has made a very selfish comment about a situation he really can't control. This is similar to what Kanter did and he got killed by many. Why not keep this in house? Why would you want this person as your PG? From what I remember this isn't the first time he's said things like this. It was on leave of the knocks on him coming into the draft.

that hesitation on his inside-out dribble is crafty. He's been working on that.

(also, you can see why Pliess is struggling in the NBA... they let you set some bull**** screens over in Europe)

Anyone else remember that IG post from Schroder the day he worked out for the Jazz.. He wanted to be drafted 14th.. Wouldn't be suprised if he's still got Utah in mind as a place to takeover..

There seems to be some confusion about Dennis in this thread

- He's way better than Trey.. Trey's a fiery competitor, Dennis gets after it more though - he plays with that same fire you see from Rudy.

-He's a floor general, not a volume shooter like Trey..

- Dennis is much more dangerous with the ball in his hands.. And vastly less predictable (How many times did Ibaka block Trey the other night?? - seemed like 3x in the first q)

- He shoots over 40% !! (wow - Trey has really set the bar low..)

- Along with being a floor general. He's also equipped with the quicks to attack the basket and play pesky fullcourt defense, he's also got a good enough 3pt shot to keep the defense honest.

- Turned 22 last month, any argument that he's not on track to be a starter usually will avoid his age.

- If the aim is the 8th seed, trade them Trey and a handful of future picks.. I honestly think it could spark a playoff run..

- IMO Dennis has the potential to shoot 4-5 FT's on 10 FGA's per game

Good post.
if there is any way that we could get dennis by only giving up burke and picks or some junk then we would have to do it right?
As long as we dont give up burks, hood, hayward, gobert, favors, or exum then we all agree that we should get this dude right?

I think it would be hard to get a deal done with these restrictions. --Unless the Hawks are in the mood to horde picks, which don't help you win games.

I agree. And i think giving up any of the guys i mentioned is too much. Maybe they would want lyles? Lyles, Trey, and a first? Would that be enough? Throw pleiss in too
